New Music [Well Sort Of]: Enrique Iglesias & Jennifer Lopez "Mouth2Mouth"

After his re-emergence to the Pop music scene back in 2010 thanks to hits featuring Pitbull ["I Like It"] and Ludacris ["Tonight (I'm Fuckin' You)"] who else could Enrique Iglesias have worked with to continue his string of perfectly crafted Pop hits? No one else but the queen of Latin Dance Pop music, Jennifer Lopez, is who! Check out their somewhat new* song "Mouth2Mouth" below!

*Although the song is not new under my terms of new music, it still is a great song that deserves a release. Sadly it was reported in Fall 2011 that Enrique was upset by the songs leak and decided to not released the song anymore. Which is a shame because the pairing is a match made in heaven, and the song is a masterpiece even in its leaked form. One can only imagine what a music video for "Mouth2Mouth" would have been like!

Who knows though, maybe plans were put on hold due to the fact that Enrique's lead single, "I Like How It Feels" [featuring Pitbull, again!] for his then thought to be re-release of Euphoria, tanked. So since plans for the re-release have been scrapped maybe this song will be featured on a possible 2012 album by Enrique Iglesias instead, and even better receive the single treatment!

P.S. Isn't that fan made single cover (above) perfect for the song/title? Of course if used, obviously feature Enrique, and not have "his" face cut off in the official shot!

Who Should The X Factor US Panel Cast?

Seeing as how X Factor US has seen nearly all of the staring panelist/cast fired... The question arises, who should replace Steve Jones as host, and Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as judges/mentors? But first, lets take a look at some names that have been floating around who probably should not become a part of the singing competition's panel.

Anybody who currently is experiencing the height of their popularity, should all be ruled out. There is no need to risk joining the show and stopping your current streak. So that takes out artists like Katy Perry (who although would be a great judge-she's currently way too successful), Rihanna (way too young to be tied down to a show that could affect her top of the pops standing), and even Beyonce (though her music career is sagging, she is still in her prime). Now for those who'd make great X Factor Judges!

So with that being said there are three people who I think could fit these roles perfectly. Each of them have experienced a great amount of success in their own right, have strong personalities, and could potentially attract their personal fan bases to watch X Factor US.

First on my list is no one other than the legend, icon, Janet Jackson. Why not. As many have argued Janet's career hasn't been where it should be since her album All For You was released back in 2001. Joining the show will undoubtedly bring many Jackson fans to watch the show PLUS it could be just what Janet needs to restart Janet's already super successful music career. Lets face it, what else has Janet been doing lately besides her recent Number Ones Tour?

Second up on my list is an entertainer who has seen the ups and downs of the entertainment industry since the 1980s. No one other than Fergie Ferg herself. Fergie has experienced what its like to be in two totally different groups, so she would be able to offer great advice and experience to potential groups on the show. In addition to her group experience Fergie became a breakout solo star back in 2006 when her solo debut album, The Dutchess, was released and spawned three number 1 singles (a total of five Top 5 hits) on the Billboard Hot 100. Having already held down hosting duties as a part of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve special for the past years, Fergie has proved she has the personality and chart records perfect for the job. More recently Fergie has said she'd like to settle down during the Black Eyed Peas current hiatus to be with her husband Josh Duhamel (maybe she should have a baby!?), so what other way would this give her the time to do that but also allow her to stay relevant. Not to mention the perfect time where she can duck in and out of studios to possibly work on that followup album so many fans have been asking for since The Dutchess era ended in 2008!

Last but certainly not least on my list, P!nk. Not only has P!nk has been around the Pop music scene since 2000, but she already has a personal connection to another judge: L.A. Reid. Reid was the person who actually played a crucial role in bringing P!nk to the pack of the Pop fore front female artists, where she remians today. But remember also, prior to P!nk's successful Pop Rock career, she made an R&B album, Can't Take Me Home, which fans still love to this day and was a part of an R&B group, Choice. Giving her even more credibility as a versatile judge. Also for anybody who knows P!nk and her personality, they know how she will not take any nonsense from any fellow judge may it be L.A. Reid or smart remarks from Simon -which would make for some pretty interesting television! Only issue is, would P!nk really joining a show like X Factor US? Especially after Chirstina Aguilera has joined The Voice, would P!nk do anything in the vein of Aguilera? Lets hope she'll make an exception for X Factor US, because she could really make it way more interesting and boost her career! Plus this could give her the chance to settle down for a while with Carey Hart and her baby Willow Sage, while still remaining relevant and able to release music at her own pace or simply just stay in the public's eye during her down time.

As for the perfect host? There have been rumors that Simon Cowel wants Ryan Seacrest. And I really hope Ryan does not jump ship from American Idol over to X Factor US. If or whenever he is done with American Idol, he needs to give up hosting music reality show competitions. He already practically owns the E! network! Yes he obviously could be a great host on X Factor, hell who wouldn't be better than Steve Jones... but the move would be in bad taste. Whether this current season of American Idol is the final season or not, Ryan please stay away from X Factor US.

People have hinted at former TRL VJs being a potential host. I kind of like that idea. I mean after all Damien Fahey and Vanessa Minnillo ~~Lachey~~ really came into their own while hosting TRL. I really do like that idea. Hell after years on TRL, even the beginning awkward around celeb stages, there's no way they could be more stiff or bland than Steve Jones! But who knows maybe X Factor will snatch up a current radio personality like JoJo Wright from KIIS FM [the same station which is home to Seacrest] to be their next breakout host.

The X Factor US Panelist Massacre!

So after a super lukewarm debut season, of The X Factor US, Simon Cowel decided to make some major changes. Apparently Cowel wasn't as OK with the average 12 million weekly audience, as he led on. Prior to the shows debut, Cowel actually had hopes for the show to have ratings in the 20 million range. Well that did not happen.

So Cowel has decided to let go not one or two, but three members of the starring staff, so far! It doesn't seem too surprising that the host, Steve Jones got the boot. After all throughout the entire season Jones struggled to show any sympathy to exiting contestants [remember after Lakoda Rayne was voted off, he responded with: how does it feel now that your dreams are over?], being really stiff, and repeatedly cutting off the judges critiques in a rude manner.

Next up on the chopping block, no one other than the former supposed to be co-host, turned Cheryl Cole replacement judge Nicole Scherzinger. After all, why was Scherzinger a judge in the first place? Seriously on paper her only true successes includes her short lived stint as the PussyCat Dolls ~~only~~ lead singer. Her solo career has never been able to take off in the U.S. And if we're counting X Factor US marks Scherzinger's 4th competition reality show [Pop Stars, Dancing With The Stars, The Sing Off, X Factor US].

Now for the final and probably most shocking departure...no one other than Cowel's former American Idol co-panelist Paula Abdul! Seems kind of odd right, Simon did bring her onto the X Factor in the first place. My guess as to why she left... Bringing back the old Idol chemistry they had, that viewers loved-simply wasn't there like it used to be. Though Cowel has openly stated he will soon work again with Abdul in the future. So at least she is leaving on good terms with him, or is she?

That leaves only Simon and L.A. Reid as judge. Wondering why Reid didn't get the boot? Well Reid did recently become the new A&R of the restructured Epic Records, so who knows... maybe Cowel sees Reid's appointment at Epic Records as another option for X Factor contestants to potentially get signed to. That's smart!

Guess the early on replaced Cheryl Cole may have had the last laugh... seeing as how her replacement was fired-she obviously didn't out perform her!

New Tune: "My Moment"

She strikes again! And not just as a cameo feature in a music video [see Katy Perry's epic "Last Friday Night (TGIF)" video]! The now 14 year old Rebecca Black is back once again with a new song, called "My Moment." Black sent the YouTube world ablaze with her viral video "Friday" which has since been pulled from YouTube due to copyright issues after reaching over 165 million views. Have no fear she is back with a new song, where she is ready to tell the world it is her moment, and she's ready to grab it. Check out the video below!

Hmmm, what can you say after that? Well it is definitely not as fun, fun, fun, fun as its predecessor. Black either is trying to prove her haters wrong by releasing a song that is supposed to be better than "Friday," but actually isn't or continuing to release a very mediocre song and video, in hopes of it achieving even more YouTube hits (now that she is likely a YouTube Partner = getting paid from YouTube), and iTunes downloads . I'll stick with "Friday," as horrible as it was, at least that was catchy!

LMFAO continues to "Party" atop the Billboard Hot 100 this week! Along with them holding onto their position, ALL songs in the Top 6 from last week are holding onto their positions as well! So that means no fifth consecutive # 1 for Katy Perry's "Friday" yet, nor rebounds from former #1's by Adele or Pitbull. Gaga is still trying to edge her way back into the charts upper tier. "Glory" peaked at number 3 upon its digital release, but hasn't proved to have enough steam to give Gaga another # 1 single as its decreasing on the iTunes Top singles chart as well! While "Super Bass" is still trying to become Minaj's first # 1 single. Last weeks bottom three positions each move up a position: Lil Wayne's "Love" (8-7), OneRepublic with "Good Life" (9-8), and Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight," (10-9). Which forces Perry's second Top 10 entry, former # 1 "E.T.", to fall 7-10 in it's 22nd chart week.

So as I posted before Jennifer Lopez is set to make an announcement tomorrow on NBC's The Today Show. Well I am pretty sure the announcement is not in regards to American Idol, or an upcoming tour, But I am happy to say fans may be excited! Find out what Miss Lopez will be announcing before her official announcement below!

So as stated before the announcement is in fact in partner with iHeartRadio, Jennifer will be one of many who will be teaming up with iHeart Radio and Clear Channel to headline their upcoming two day festival (September 23-24) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which will help launch the new updated version of iHeartRadio.

Other headliners include Steven Tyler, the Black Eyed Peas & Lady Gaga. While acts like Usher, Kelly Clarkson, and Nicki Minaj are also being billed for the event. Throwback Tune: "Back That Azz Up"

Back in the late 1990s Cash Money's biggest artist wasn't Lil Wayne, instead it was his labelmate Juvenile. His 1999 hit single "Back That Azz Up" (edited as "Back That Thang Up") managed to peak at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even featured a pint sized Lil Wayne and along with Mannie Fresh on the track. "Back That," was released as the second single from his now 4x platinum 1998 album 400 Degreez.

Take a listen to the song, you'll definitely remember it, and you may even be surprised that Lil Wayne was featured until he pops up rapping his verse near the songs outro. Wayne even shouts out "CMB make you drop it like its hot," in reference to Cash Money Billionaires, which Wayne currently reps as YMCMB-Young Money Cash Money Billionaires, in relation to the Young Money Entertainment imprint.

Jennifer Lopez Announcement Monday

Jennifer Lopez is set to hit NBC's The Today Show, this Monday to make an announcement with iHeartRadio. Hmmm, seems like the announcement would be in regards to her plans for 2012, right? (Lets hope the announcement isn't something minor in relation to iHeart Radio!) Which most likely would be rejoining Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler on the 11th season judging panel of American Idol, or who knows, maybe a tour? Well we will have to wait and see on Monday. Although with NBC's The Voice becoming such a big hit, wouldn't it make an announcement in regards to Idol, whether staying on or leaving, seem kind of out of place?

Well, in other Jennifer Lopez news, while Lopez was on HSN to promote her new fragrance, it was announced that the Latin tinged dance tune "Papi" will serve as the official third single for her new album Love?. What Do The Black Eyed Peas Have In Store For The Future?

Been wondering if the Black Eyed Peas were going to continue on releasing new singles from their current album The Beginning, or release another album later this year? Well it has been announced by will.i.am via [his official] Twitter that the Black Eyed Peas, will definitely be taking a break before their next album. See exactly what Will had to say:

So Will definitely wants the Black Eyed Peas fans to know that the group is not breaking up, or at least that they will still remain co-collaborators. Although it makes you wonder if the Peas will be able to take a lengthy break as they did between Monkey Business [2005], and The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) [2009], and still come back strong. I surely do hope so, but you must also take into consideration they will all be 4 years older (around 40), and the mainstream music scene will once again be completely different. Will they be able to takeover the Pop charts and rule as they did so effortlessly in 2009? What do you think? Leave comments below!

One thing is for sure-a break from the Black Eyed Peas means one of two things for defining member Fergie. Ashanti Single Due Out Soon!

While Ashanti was at the BET Awards, she said in an interview that a new single was to be released and coming sooner than you think. The time frame given then was 2-3 weeks. Which would make the release as soon as soon as July 12th, and as late as July 19th-seeing as though music is normally released on Tuesdays.

The single is speculated to be something uptempo, so one can only hope it continues to be that groundbreaking sound that was loved by so many on the Rock/guitar driven "Only U." Bring on July 19th! Are you hyped for Ashanti's return? I'm curious to know, drop a comment below!

Beyonce '4' Album Review

This past Tuesday saw the release of Beyonce's fourth studio album, aptly titled 4, a number near and dear to Beyonce's heart (birthday, wedding date, etc). The album was preceded by the first two singles, the heavily sampled ("Pon De Floor") track, "Run The World (Girls)" and "Best Thing I Never Had," which sounded as if it were an "Irreplaceable" Part II, minus Ne-Yo in exchange for Babyface. Both singles failed to generate the standard buzz Beyonce is known to bring come album release/buzz period. Still Columbia Records continued with the original scheduled release date of June 28th, 2011.

Overall the album is filled with ~~too~~ many ballads and mid-tempo songs, which isn't what you'd expect from Beyonce. Especially given the album's near suggestive cover, and the albums club ready lead single. Earlier reports were made and stated the album would have more of an experimental, undefinable genre wise sound. It's safe to say this album misses that mark completely! Not one song from this album really has a sound that forces Beyonce out of her comfort zone to a strong degree.

Not to mention with a summer release date, and the name Beyonce fronting the project... you tend to want a good deal of music that is summer ready-danceable, catchy tunes. Well, one thing is for sure, Beyonce did try to go against the grain and release an album, outside of the heavily exploited Dance Pop/Electronic/Electro Pop genre which radio is currently eating up--maybe that's why her singles haven't been ~~quick~~ radio successes (as past Beyonce singles have)! This Weeks Hot 100 #1 Prediction

It almost seems obvious after the stride it's had so far. It seems pretty much solid that LMFAO will receive their first Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single along with Lauren Bennett & GoonRock. The hit single "Party Rock Anthem," is definitely on it's way to the charts peak position.

Now it will be something if the party anthem will be able to hold off Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" from achieving a feat only Michael Jackson has achieved so far (Five # 1 singles from one album)! I doubt they'll be able to hold off the unstoppable Perry, but we will see in time!

Pitbull Finally Hits Number 1!

Pitbull has finalyl managed to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100! This past week, "Give Me Everything" [featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, & Nayer] managed to snag the top position away from Adele's long runnign number 1, "Rolling In The Deep."

Definiely is deserved by Pitbull. Since hitting number 1, "Give Me Everything" marks the highest charting single for Pitbull on the Hot 100, ahead of his 2009 smash hit, "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)," which peaked at number 2.

Lady Gaga 'The Fame Monster' Album Review

Since blowing up in early 2009 after an extremely slow music scene debut in April of 2008, Lady Gaga has without doubt become more than just Pop music’s current ‘it girl’. With her first two singles “Just Dance” & “Poker Face” becoming worldwide number 1 hit singles and subsequent singles all hitting the Top 10, Gaga definitely helped start the current trend of Electro Pop/Dance music.

Shortly after “Paparazzi” became another Top 10 hit for Gaga, she released “Bad Romance” as the lead single to her new body of music The Fame Monster. Initially thought to be apart of the re-release of her debut The Fame, instead “Bad Romance” marks the first release from Gaga’s first EP (extended play). Gaga’s main collaborator RedOne produced the single that follows a similar sound to “Poker Face.”

Repaying the favor Gaga enlists superstar diva Beyonce, to have guest vocals on their second single together, “Telephone.” Currently the extended version of Beyonce’s “Video Phone,” marks their first single and video of the duo together. The Urban Pop tune features the duo singing about not wanting to be bothered by anyone calling them while they’re are in the club dancing. The only issue is they’re singing about telephones which many have long traded in for cell phones!

Straying away from the albums Electro Pop/Dance sound is the emotionally filled bluesy jazz cut “Speechless.” The song which is one of Gaga’s personal favorites was dedicated to her father whom she’s very close to. Gaga shows her vocals aren’t just suited for up-tempo club tunes as she sings “Could we fix you if you broke?/And is your punch line just a joke/I’ll never talk again/Oh boy you’ve left me speechless.”

More versatility is shown on the Electro Latin Pop tinged “Alejandro.” On the RedOne assisted song Gaga sings of a young love that’s “hot like Mexico,” but has to end because, “her boyfriend’s just like a dad” and she doesn’t want to be bothered. While on “Monster,” Gaga sings of a devilish boyfriend who’s like a monster that eats her heart and then her brain. The song lyrically explores Gaga’s more peculiar side but would still manage to be a great future single.

Overall on The Fame Monster Gaga continues to write great catchy danceable Pop tunes that fans will love and radio will eat up. With artists continuously emulating her style, a second unthought-of duet, and incorporating her now well known style Gaga continues to prove that she’s not just a music industry fad. If you enjoyed any of Gaga’s singles or debut album, The Fame Monster is a must hear.

Rihanna 'Rated R' Album Review

Back in August of 2005, an unknown Barbadian singer Robyn Fenty released her debut Reggae fusion influenced album Music Of The Sun in the US. Known to the world by her middle name, Rihanna the pop star was born. Less than a year later after nearly missing the Billboard Hot 100 number 1 spot with her debut single “Pon De Replay,” she clenched it with “SOS” the lead single of her sophomore album A Girl Like Me which continued to prove she was not just a one hit wonder, by scoring two more top 10 singles. The following year Rihanna earned a second number 1 single with her worldwide smash hit single “Umbrella.”

Following her breakthrough Good Girl Gone Bad era Rihanna was on top of the world with a total of five number 1 singles. Not even a very public domestic violence case could knock Rihanna down. Now, the wait is over and Rihanna is scheduled to release her fourth studio album Rated R through Def Jam on Monday, November 23rd, 2009.

Surprising fans greatly, Rihanna released a dark ballad as her lead single. “Russian Roulette,” co written by label mate Ne-Yo and herself became her twelfth Top 10 hit. The haunting track will take some fans back to 2006’s “Unfaithful,” which was written by Ne-Yo as well.

You hear Rihanna’s Caribbean accent return as she sings the verses on “Wait Your Turn.” Sadly the captivating promotional single, is about as close as Rated R comes to recreating Rihanna’s past successful Dance Pop sound.

Released to radio early, is the self-assured “Hard,” Rated R’s second official single. Rihanna doesn’t hold back at all on the track claiming, “the Rihanna reign just won’t let up.” Knowing others are “aiming at [her] pedestal” Rihanna enlists Young Jeezy to help build the street grittiness of “Hard,” making it a must hear.

Up and coming artist Ester Dean lends a creative hand by writing “Rude Boy.” The song has got to be Rihanna’s most sexual song to date. Unlike the subtle “Shut Up & Drive,” which featured car expressions as sexual metaphors “Rude Boy” goes straight in! On top of the infectious beat produced by Stargate, Rihanna sings “I like the way you touch me there/I like the way you pull my hair/Babe if I don’t feel it/I ain’t fakin’no no.”

Rihanna steps out of her comfort zone and spits a decent flow twice on “G4L” but only for a few lines. Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash tries to help Rihanna become a legit rock star on “Rockstar 101,” but it just isn’t too believable. Once again Justin Timberlake lends Rihanna a hand on Rated R’s best ballad “Cold Case Love,” which features Rihanna crooning about an unhealthy relationship that went too far and resulted in death.

In the end Rated R doesn’t exactly continue or capture the edgy influenced sound of “Disturbia” or the Alternative/Rock sound of “Breakin’ Dishes” & “Shut Up & Drive.” Nor does the album feature the Dance Pop feel of “SOS” or “Don’t Stop The Music,” which is a real disappointment since much of Rihanna’s two times platinum 2007 Good Girl Gone Bad album was. Although Rated R does follows in the Rihanna formula by once again changing up her musical style by compiling mid-tempo Hip Hop-Rock tunes and Pop ballads.

With Def Jam promoting Rihanna in great deal, Rated R will most likely become another success for Rihanna. But it is not likely Rated R will produce as many hits or receive the attention Good Girl Gone Bad achieved.

Amerie 'In Love & War' Album Review

Back in 2002 Amerie quietly came onto the music scene with her debut album All I Have. But after releasing her sophomore album Touch in 2005 which spawned her only major Pop hit single “1 Thing,” she still has failed to make any lasting chart impressions. After parting ways with Columbia Records, Amerie’s fourth studio album entitled In Love & War was released via her new recording home Def Jam on November 3rd.

The initial first single “Why R U?” attempted to bring Amerie fans back to her debut album sound. With an old school Hip Hop beat, you want to feel like your hearing the magic Amerie and her past producer Rich Harrison created, but the vibe isn’t the same. The song didn’t make much of an impact and became listed as buzz single to promote the album.

“Heard ‘Em All,” definitely brings up the tempo. The drum heavy based track definitely has a crossover vibe intended and meant not only for R&B radio but Pop radio and dance/club airplay. Although Amerie sets the songs tone perfectly alone, the official remix adds an unnecessary verse by current hot rapper Lil’ Wayne, which is a bonus track.

Trey Songz marks one of two features on the albums third single (second official). “Pretty Brown,” blends Amerie and Songz vocals together beautifully. The duet puts a modern spin on the 90s Mint Condition classic “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes),” with new lyrics and a more up tempo feel.

Amerie definitely gains her “Swag Back” on In Love & War. The Jim Jonsin (“Whatever You Like,” “Lollipop”) produced track features Amerie speaking of how she is finally over a past relationship and ready for a new start, as she declares, “My head is clear, I’m soul surviving. Cause you’re not here, but I’m not crying, no. I finally got my swag back.”

On “Higher” Amerie introduces a soulful rock edge while on “Dangerous,” she revisits a more familiar retro dance/funk sound. Majority of the album is filled with ballads mid tempos which help to make In Love & War have more of a throwback (to various decades) R&B feel, that hardcore R&B fans will love.

In Love & War compares similarly to other Amerie albums. The album has a selection of great songs, mixed in with some tracks that will grow on the listeners’ ear. If Def Jam decides to give In Love & War the correct promo and exposure, Amerie may be able to gain some more hit singles and credibility. Although if the expected happens, Amerie may continue to be one of the decades underrated female R&B singers.

New NOVEMBER Music! Week By Week

Get ready for a great deal of new music releases next month. November is filled with multiple highly anticipated album releases by various artists. Everyone from Country Pop star Carrie Underwood to popular producer/artist Timbaland seems to have materiel ready for public hearing.

The month gets off to a quick start with Carrie Underwood releasing her third album Play On, on November 3rd. The album’s first single “Cowboy Casanova” has already become a crossover hit, managing to peak at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Not to mention both of Underwood’s previous albums have become Platinum US selling albums. On the 3rd Amerie releases her long awaited Def Jam debut In Love & War. Despite little promotion and attention this marks Amerie’s return to music in the US since leaving Columbia Records.

Britney Spears’ fans will be delighted to pick up her latest compilation The Singles Collection on November 10th. The album features Spears’ greatest hits which includes three Billboard Hot 100 number 1 singles, including the current single “3.”

A week later, on the 17th, America gets to hear from its current Idol winner Kris Allen who will release his self titled major label debut album including the thought provoking “Live Like We’re Dying”. X Factor winner Leona Lewis drops her sophomore album Echo; on which Lewis worked with big names including Justin Timberlake and Ryan Tedder. Janet Jackson releases her second greatest hits compilation album titled Number Ones, which features many of her biggest past singles plus the new single “Make Me”. Alternative pop artist John Mayer releases his fourth studio album Battle Studies, which is his first studio album since 2006’s Continuum. The Colorado based OneRepublic, will release their sophomore effort, Waking Up which the bands new sound on the lead single “All The Right Moves.”

November 23rd definitely marks one of the biggest new release weeks in music. Electro Pop singer Lady Gaga will re-release her debut album along with eight new songs. The Fame Monster includes the new single “Bad Romance,” and a song titled “Speechless” which Gaga dedicated to her father. Beyonce re-releases the deluxe version of her I Am… Sasha Fierce album as well. Ironically Beyonce will release a remix and music video to “Video Phone” which will feature Gaga. Latin Pop star Shakira returns will her first release since 2005, with her album She Wolf. The Second single “Give It Up To Me,” features Lil’ Wayne & Timbaland and was initially slatted for Timbaland’s album Timbaland Presents Shock Value II*, due out the same day. On Timbaland’s album, he worked with a large number of artists including Miley Cyrus, The Fray, Justin Timberlake, and others to create Part II of Shock Value which was released back in 2007. New to the US charts, Jay Sean releases his debut album stateside All Or Nothing, which will include the Hot 100 number 1 “Down,” [featuring Lil’ Wayne] and second single “Do You Remember” [featuring Sean Paul & Lil’ Jon]. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert will release his debut album For Your Entertainment which is set to have songs written by Lady Gaga, Max Martin, & Ryan Tedder. But among all of these new albums, the most anticipated has got to be Rihanna’s latest. Rated R is set to be released as a double disc and will feature the lead single “Russian Roulette” which was written by Ne-Yo and Rihanna, herself. This marks the first Rihanna single and album since her February altercation with Chris Brown and 2007’s multiplatinum Good Girl Gone Bad.

Finally on November 24th, Britney Spears fans will be able to show their love by purchasing a box set of all Spears’ singles. The Singles Collection ultimate fan box set will include all 29 CD singles, and other items too.

So November definitely looks like it will be a good month for new music releases. Fans of Country, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, and Alternative music will be able to purchase and support new highly anticipated music from various popular artists. Fans of music, enjoy!

Mariah Carey 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel' Album Review

After working with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart on her 18th Billboard Hot 100 number 1 “Touch My Body,” the 20 year veteran diva decided to create an entire album with the current production duo; whose been creating hits for many artists. Mariah Carey’s twelfth studio album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel was released via Island Def Jam on September 29th.

To set the summer off right, Mariah Carey released the fiery “Obsessed,” which found the singer making not so subtle jabs at an unnamed male; thought to be rapper Eminem. The lead single features Carey’s auto tuned vocals, singing over a thumping bass filled track. Mariah shows she’s not holding back as she declares “you a mom and pop, I’m a corporation; I’m the press conference, you a conversation,” regarding this mystery man who’s obsessed with her.

Separating from the more up-tempo Mariah Carey, Mariah covers Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is,” as the second release from Memoirs. The cover definitely tires to take Mariah Carey fans back to her big ballad glory days, but fails to make a lasting impression as a single, such as her 1989 debut “Vision Of Love.” The covered tune nicely features a gospel choir backing Carey to help her close out the song and album.

While Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel was initially thought to bring Mariah fans back to her classic 90s sound, Memoirs fails to do so in great amount. Though the albums standout track, “Angles Cry” could be considered an attempt to do so. Carey even still manages to give a dose of her ability to still hold a note as “Angels Cry,” ends. Carey carries a similar feisty attitude from 2005s “Don’t Forget About Us,” on “Up Out My Face.” The most memorable line from the song has got to be when Carey states, “even if we were two Lego blocks, even the Harvard University graduating class of 2010, couldn’t even put us back together again.”

The albums main creative team Carey, The-Dream, and Tricky Stewart seem to embark Memoirs as an advertisement more so than an album filled with deep lyrics. The album features a great deal of gimmicky lyrics, which seem to advertise products and services rather offer signature exemplary Mariah songs. On “The Impossible” Carey sings “love you like kool-aid…love you like a Holiday Duncan Hines yellow cake.” Another example of the almost child like lyrics, is heard on “More Than Just Friends.” Where Carey sings, “Steady feenin’ for you like them fries at McDonald’s, I wanna be all up on your lips like gelato (ice cream).” Lyrics like these don’t allow Carey seem true to her age (39) or let her mature as a lyricist.

The album cut, “H.A.T.E.U.” which quickly became a fan favorite is Memoirs proposed third single. Throughout “H.A.T.E.U.” Carey proves that she still has great vocal control, by entering her whistle register, which suits the song well. The title which is actual an acronym for Having A Typical Emotional Upset, explains the songs meaning extremely well; about a relationship that’s has ran its course and starting to fizzle out, as the narrator prepares for heartbreak.

While Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel will leave devote Mariah Carey fans, (AKA Lambs) ecstatic, the album doesn’t offer much for others. Memoirs is filled with a bunch of mid-tempos and ballads but as a whole the album seems a bit rushed. It seems as though Mariah is at her best when her albums are released after her musical breaks. Even though Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel isn’t comparable to older Mariah materiel, Mariah still manages to add great songs to her 20 year and counting catalog.

Whitney Houston 'I Look To You' Album Review

After a period of time where there was much speculation of drug use, anorexia, an outlandish reality series with her then husband, and a divorce, an artist who many loved from the 80s and 90s decided to make her musical comeback. Whitney Houston released her sixth studio album I Look To You, on August 31st, which was pushed up from its original date, to most likely make the 2010 Grammy Awards deadline. I Look To You debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 305,000 copies in its opening week

The emotional title track written by R. Kelly, which was initially up for free download, speaks on how someone can find someone to turn to even during their hardest struggles. “I Look To You”, is definitely a song that will remind fans of Whitney’s covered hit “I Will Always Love You.”

Whitney Houston changes up the tempo for the retro sounding first single “Million Dollar Bill,” which actually has a slight 70s disco feel to it. Written by Alicia Keys and produced by Swizz Beatz helps to give the song a modern day touch alongside classic Houston vocals. A great choice for first single “Million Dollar Bill” showcases vocals fans love from Whitney, and has a nice mellow groove, all while still being able to get people on the dance floor.

Popular singer songwriter and producer Akon, marks the only featured vocalist on the I Look To You. The title, “Like I Never Left,” will initially make fans think the song will be about Houston’s return to music, though its actually a love song; about a couple who’s trying to mend and turn things back to how their relationship was. The slight island vibe compliments Houston and Akon’s duet well. Besides “Like I Never Left” Akon also produced “I Got You,” off the album as well.

Houston does a great job of keeping her music on the album youthful yet mature. On “Nothin’ But Love,” Houston tells those who love and hate her, she “ain’t got nothin’ but love for ya.” While the dance oriented “For The Lovers,” features slick lyrics and a catchy beat; as a fierce Houston sings, “to all the haters in the place, I ain’t singing to you baby.” Both songs were produced by Nate “Danja” Hills, who’s worked with everyone from Britney Spears to Madonna.

The majority of the eleven track album is comprised of mid-tempo songs, with, Pop, R&B, and Dance influences. Aside from the title track, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” is the only other belted out ballad by Whitney Houston included on the album. StarGate who’s produced hits for Rihanna and Ne-Yo locked in two of the songs on I Look To You as well. The mid-tempo love song “Call You Tonight,” blends Houston’s vocals well with the guitar influenced production from StarGate. On the second, Houston covers “A Song For You,” originally by Leon Russell. The complex song starts off as an expected ballad, but quickly shifts into a Dance Pop song, which even adds vocals from a gospel choir near its end.

Overall, Whitney Houston delivers a solid album that both new & old fans and young & older people could definitely enjoy. I Look To You maintains Houston’s poise and doesn’t simply feature her trying to fit in with new day Pop stars, but finds a unique way to still make her music young. With already good sales, necessary promotion, and the right singles, this album could allow Whitney to take over the 2010 Grammy’s and regain her prominent spot in Pop music, which she truly never left behind.

Nominations for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

So the 2009 MTV VMAs air next month, on Sunday, September 13th, with invited back host Russel Brand. Who knows why MTV asked him to host again, he did a horrible job last year, but maybe they're giving him a chance to redeem himself. Which I doubt he'll do, but hey!

Also all of the artists, have had a decent or great year with their recent music. So it could be a toss up, or it could be obvious with Beyonce winning, maybe Gaga has a chance to win.

Jay-Z maybe...huh?

Beyonce's video was 100% dancing- and huge (success wise), screams winner.

I think this was a obvious thought, because MTV put Beyonce into categories with "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," where it clearly would have been a better option to nominate "If I Were A Boy." Beyonce should be mad at MTV for that! Or was it because the video was released to early, before the deadline, cause I thought it came out alongside "Single Ladies" hmmm (and I just checked it did)! Be mad Bey, cause MTV is posing to make Gaga look like she had a way bigger year than you. I'm just hoping Britney can win some for her year too, cause "Womanizer" and "Circus" were huge songs, and deserve to win. Let's hope the show will be good this year will great!

Michael Jackson has inspired so many current artists. In remembrance and memorial to Michael Jackson, here is a look at a few (in no particular order)...

Britney Spears
Spears has become one of the biggest selling artists in the 2000s and partly because of her tours which feature what many think Spears does best, dance. A lot of her dancing has been influenced from Michael Jackson.

Chris Brown
Brown has been labeled in some cases a younger version of MJ. Once again his dance moves catapult him towards this comparison. At the 2007 MTV VMAs he performed to "Billie Jean," in tribute to MJ.

Justin Timberlake
Timberlake has become another entertainer who's gained many MJ comparisons from his particular dancing. Along with 'N Sync, he even performed with one of his idols, MJ.

Usher
Very similar to MJ, Usher grew up in the spotlight and became the star he is today right in front of the public. As he grew up, his dancing became more respected and appreciated; from his distinctive moves such as his handstand, he's obviously been influenced by MJ.

Ne-Yo
Ne-Yo alike MJ has became a prominent and popular songwriter. As he has been dancing for some time now, he really showed off his MJ moves and swag with the live performances and music video to 2008s "Closer."

Rihanna
While Rihanna isn't really the dancing music superstar, she sampled the MJ made famous "Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa" chant in her hit "Don't Stop The Music." Following, she also used the dark eerie vibe from "Thriller" in her music video to "Disturbia."

Ciara
Unlike many others Ciara has listed both MJ and his younger sister has big influenced to her style of dance. While some label her the new era Janet, in a recent interview with ThatGrapeJuice she actually picked MJ over Janet!

Ashanti
While Ashanti isn't really compared to MJ for her dancing, she was definitely lyrically inspired by The King Of Pop. Her 2003 hit single was titled "Rock Wit You (Awww Baby)" similar to MJs 1979 hit single "Rock With You." She also remixed the song to feature a beat more similar to MJs version and a bridge featuring his lyrics.

Beyonce
Beyonce is one of the biggest females when it comes to putting on a show filled with dance routines and memorable performances. Similar to MJ's moonwalk, Beyonce's dance routine for "Single Ladies" was inspired from a past similar number she saw. She has recently claimed him as one of her heroes.

Omarion
Even though Omarion isn't currently in the spotlight as he used to be, Omarion's dancing has been clearly inspired from MJ. If you watch his videos including "Touch" you can see resemblances to how MJ would effortless move in Omarion as well.

As you can see many artists have been and continue to be influenced and inspired by The King Of Pop. Michael Jackson will stand forever as the guideline of what an ultimate global star is and should be like. Barbadian Exploration: Livvi Franc "Now I'm That Bitch"

So ever since Rihanna came into super stardom, the U.S. has gotten other female variants from her native Barbados. First we had Shontelle, who had mediocre success with her song "T-Shirt" (which actually was a good catchy song to me). Sadly her follow singles "Battle Cry," and "Stuck With Each other" [featuring Akon] which actually sounded like a "Hate That I Love You" knock off (but still good), didn't receive much attention at all.

Next up from Barbados, is Livvi Franc. Who actually writes her own lyrics. Which is a plus to all of the people who always bring up the fact that Rihanna is a Def Jam puppet. Franc's debut single, "Now I'm That Bitch" features Latino Hip Hop star Pitbull, and brings a fierce attitude to men all around the world, as she claims to be 'that bitch;' but in a positive way of course.

I must admit the song is rather catchy, and already has became a U.S. dance hit. The line in the song that I must say makes the song, is not the title, "Now I'm That Bitch," it's when Livvi Franc says, "You were to fly then, so fly away now." Gotta love that line! We'll see what the future holds for this Barbadian artist. Will she become as successful as Rihanna, I doubt it, but who knows she may have a better first round than Shontelle...maybe!

BET Awards 09: Monica Outshines Keyshia Cole (Without Trying)

It was really something when Keyshia Cole and Monica sang their duet live on the 2009 BET Awards. You think since they were performing a sincere ballad that it would have been one of the nights highlight performances. Well it was for one of the two.

I personally think Keyshia Cole was up on stage trying to out-sing Monica. Which is just wrong. Monica has been in this game for so many years, and to her, Keyshia is a baby! Well too bad for Cole because she ended up sounding off, very "screamy" with her vocals; as Monica just glided through her vocals (and was even told in the post show by Foxx and Latifa to put out an album now!). Not to mention what was up with her [Keyshia's] hair-do!

BET Awards 09: Janet Speaks On Michael

Sadly, the best part of the 2009 BET Awards was actually its saddest part! Near the end of the program they've had Janet Jackson come out on behalf of the Jackson family and speak on how the family is coping and showing respect for her brother, Michael. Janet was completely shaken, and you could visibly see the pain she was going through. You could tell how close they were as siblings, and the moment was very touching.

While it was a very sad moment to see Janet like this, it was great to hear from her and hear her respects and strength she is holding for her family, in their time of need. Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, and to his family, you are in many peoples thoughts.

I must admit, as she was first being walked out by Jamie Foxx, I definitely thought she was Diana Ross.

BET Awards 09: Keri Hilson Needs More Stamina

What do you know... Once again Keri Hilson's live performance, just wasn't cutting it. She was sounding like she was out of breath once again. She never truly dances so hard (like Ciara) yet she is always out of breath.

Her performance showed her respect and love for the late Michael Jackson which was nice, but she still shouldn't have been dancing if she couldn't sing throughout it. Work on your stamina Keri!

BET Awards 09: Jamie Foxx's Intro

So Jamie Foxx's intro was pretty much paying respect to Michael Jackson. It wasn't bad, nor anything that special. It would have been nice if he had sung the part of "Beat It" that he danced to. A rather long intro which I'm sure was because of the Michael Jackson's tribute from him.

Hopefully he makes the rest of the show more memorable. I'm already upset by how many times they've bleeped out words he said, cause sometimes it's like, huh what was he saying/did he say.

BET Awards 09: LeToya's Wrong Song Choice

So LeToya recently performed on the 106 & Park Pre-Show to the 2009 BET Awards... And I have no idea why she decided to perform her months old single "Not Anymore." Besides the fact that its old, its a slow song that didn't get the crowd hyped, and will not help her set her album off right. At least she didn't make this mistake on the actual show.

It was just a really bad decision of hers, especially when she has her new uptempo single, "She Ain't Got..." which should have been performed, to help the single at radio and in sales. LeToya...bad move!

It is truly sad to lose such an iconic musician today. Michael Jackson who was known to and by many as the King Of Pop, died at age 50: after being rushed to the UCLA hospital after being in cardiac arrest. Jackson did not have a pulse and paramedics couldn't revive him. Jackson was preparing a tour overseas which sold out extremely quick and was set kick off this year and ending by next year.

While over the years many people have taken to Michael Jackson's behavior and ways, over his undeniable talent immense popularity, he will be something the Music Industry will never forget. Artists from all genre's of music have said they've been inspired by him and you can truly see within stars such as Ciara, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, and Omarion, just to name a few.

Michael Jackson helped pave the way for artists of of all races, by his unique performances, stage presence and with help from Quincy Jones, who helped get his music videos played on MTV (at the time MTV was not playing black artists music videos), the first being "Billie Jean."

HOT MUSIC: "Radar" by Britney Spears

Ever since Britney Spears released her 5th studio album Blackout in 2007, "Radar" infectiously became a song that was on repeat. It was initially slatted as the album's fourth single, but was eventually scrapped and listed as a promo only single, since Spears had started work on her 6th studio album.

Thanks to Britney adding it as a bonus track on Circus, we finally get to see "Radar" released as an official single. The ElectroPop song, is one of her most catchy songs to date. While many may say the song is overly computer generated it only adds to it's feel, and only makes the song more danceable and catchy.

When it comes to Spears' competition on the charts, I see "Radar" competing with Lady Gaga's "LoveGame," since they both are ElectroPop songs and released around the same time; but "Radar" by far is a way catchier song, and I hope she reaches the tops of the charts with it, because it is a deserving song.

The music video has been filmed but not yet released, so until then listen to "Radar" below.

WOW, is all I can say on the production tip. Cory Bold is definitely about to blow up. LeToya may just have found a radio/club hit for herself. It's really nice to hear her trying a new uptempo sound for a single release. "She Ain't Got..." is slated to be the second single from her sophomore album, Lady Love.

"She Ain't Got..." which was retitled from "She Ain't Got Shit On Me," has a perfect club driven beat, mixed with "I know she didn't just say that..." lyrics. You definitely have to hear the, "So swing batta, batta, batta. Right at up, at her, batta."

I'm looking forward to the music video, that's for sure. but in the mean time, check out the audio of the song below.

Justin Timberlake definitely found someone to look out for, the YouTube found Dutch artist, Esmée Denters' lead single "Outta Here," is one of the most catchiest songs out now!

Respected producer Polow Da Don produced the track along side Justin Timberlake himself. While the song may seem to follow in the current ElectroPop movement (Lady Gaga, RedOne, and co.) it stands on it's own and assures Denters has chops to pull with some of the best.

I definitely am looking forward to more music from the 20 year old soon to be star, Esmée Denters! Check out the music video to "Outta Here," below!

American Idol 8: Final 3

When I think of it technically the three finalist from this seasons American Idol could potentially be short lived sensations (in the Music Industry), but I see 1 who sticks out most.

DANNY seems like he appeals more to older audiences, and would be the type to sing ballads, and songs that the younger crowd would get annoyed of again and again (because that is what I see his style being). He really has some Taylor Hicks qualities about him.

KRIS would be the most current, and up to date Pop star of the three, and would definitely be most easiest to market IMO. But the thing is with him, if he doesn't find the right team to back him, he may fall after the show if people forget about him.

ADAM, has been the front runner since what Hollywood? Well either way, when it comes to him, he definitely is the Rock Idol of this year's season, but he adds so much of his Theatrical background into his performances and I could see him do that with an album. He'd be perfect to head a Rock band, but I think over a few albums the public could easily get bored of him, or annoyed of his style.

So, overall I mean, I think the best bet to go with as a winner would have to be Kris, he is the most current, and would blend right in mixing the styles of Jason Mraz, Robin Thicke, John Mayer, etc. (You know artists, who people love currently, no matter race, gender...) Plus he seems to have his own thing going (style wise). Not to mention he seems like the most down to earth out of the three, followed by Adam, I guess. But if Adam is as good as he is (since the judges have said since day 1 almost), does he really need to win the competition to prove that?

Irv Drops & Disses Ashanti, For Show Promotion

So, recently Irv Gotti head of Murder Inc./The INC. Records, did a pretty revealing news release video with MTV. In the video he stated that he was honestly just going to drop the current biggest bread winner from his label, Ashanti.

To me personally this comes at a very ironic time, about a year ago Irv was giving radio host Wendy Williams mixed singles when she asked if Ashanti and him have ever been together sexually. Seems like promo for his reality show on VH1, Gotti's Way to me. But OK he did an interview, and that is that. But nearly after a year from Ashanti's fourth album release The Declaration which Gotti didn't play a role in as usual, Irv decides to drop her from The INC. The worst part about this, is that he actually has his second season of his reality show about to premier (unless it just recently did). It really comes off as a way for him to promote himself, more than being wise business wise with his label.

If he was upset and not happy with Ashanti's performance or sales of her last record, would she have been dropped 5 months or so after the album was released. To put that in perspective, the album was released in early June 2008. It is now early May 2009 and he decides to release a pretty harsh video and statements on why he is deciding to drop Ashanti.

I guess the funny thing is that Ashanti fans have been wanting her to leave Murder INC. ever since it's trial back in late 2004-early 2005. But Ashanti stayed loyal to her label, and didn't get out of her contract. The video also features Irv Gotti, trying to take credit for being who made Ashanti the star, and able to sell 503,000 copies of her self titled debut album in its first week. Which actually is a record by debuting female R&B artists. Anyways while the situation was definitely handled in the worst way possible, Ashanti has showed the world what she is capable and I see her having no problem finding a new home, that will promote her albums correctly. And for Irv, good luck with trying to jump start Murder INC again, I mean how long has Ja Rules album been pushed back, 3 years by now! I was always a fan of the label but the shady business of Irv could potentially turn me way off from Murder INC., we'll see.

Can A Girl Group Ever Last?

Who would have though after reaching such career heights as setting the record of being the only female group in Billboard history to have their first two albums debut at number 1, two Top 10 singles, and selling out tours, Bad Boy’s Danity Kane wouldn’t be able to avoid disbanding. Created by MTV and Diddy to search for an international superstar female group, the new installment of Making The Band 3 introduced us to many girls vying for the chance to be part of the group in 2004.

After seasons of auditions and broken dreams, Diddy finally picked five girls to fill the part; Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbers, Aubrey O’Day, Dawn Richard, and Wanita “D. Woods” Woodgette. Making The Band viewers easily fell in love with the chosen members through the course of the show and watched them achieve unthought-of success, most television-created bands wouldn’t achieve. Danity Kane’s debut album, Danity Kane, was released in 2006 along with the R&B influenced Top 10 Hot 100 single “Show Stopper.” When it came for the groups second album, in 2008 they released Welcome To The Dollhouse, and earned another Top 10 single with the Dance Pop, club ready “Damaged.”

Things on the outside, as always with girl groups, seemed great; success, fame, and dreams being lived out for the whole world to see. After various things were reported about Danity Kane (involving speculated solo deals, joining other groups, members leaving), in a later season of the show, Diddy took it upon himself to fire two members, Aubrey and D. Woods. Trying to continue the group as a threesome, surprisingly Shannon wasn’t on board for a DK3. Leaving only Aundrea and Dawn to be featured in the current season of Making The Band 4 which just ended; By Diddy releasing Aundrea out of her contract as well as the other three members; keeping only Dawn on the Bad Boy roster.

This brings up the question; will there ever be a girl group who lasts without a lineup change or member going solo? It seems like all of the most popular groups experience line up changes or disbandment. From The Supremes you had Diana Ross who went on to receive solo success. TLC, owned the 90s but came to a halt after Left Eye passed away. In Destiny’s Child you had Beyonce head the group perfectly, to create the perfect solo career. Other instances of girl groups losing members or breaking up include SWV, En Vogue, Spice Girls, Blaque, Dream, and 3LW. It almost appears to be fact, that girl groups successful or not, just don’t last! There are just certain things in groups that cannot be overlooked by members, and this usually results in a party wanting to go solo or being unhappy with how they’re treated.

It’s clear that groups such as Danity Kane create successful careers collectively; and for some members successful solo careers as well. The only thing left to wonder when it comes to your favorite girl groups is, how long will they really last and which member(s) will be going solo in the near future.

Colorado Music: Obscure to Mainstream

It’s odd no one ever really thought of Colorado as being a big market for popular music. A state filled with huge cities including the capital Denver, and Colorado Springs, you’d expect to find tons of blossoming talent. But recently, all that has changed.

Acts have been coming out of Colorado and becoming mainstream artists, since The Fray in 2005. Most recently the Electronic Hip Hop duo, 3OH!3 has become the latest act to hit it big. Their debut single, “Don’t Trust Me,” was available digitally since mid 2008 along with their album Want, and since the course of its release it has become the band’s breakout hit. Thanks to being added to radio in early 2009 and increased sales on iTunes, “Don’t Trust Me,” has managed to currently reach number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and become a platinum certified single. The Boulder, Colorado band’s style introduces infectious electronic beats mixed with captivating yet at times frivolous lyrics. Uniquely, the spelling and name 3OH!3 actually comes from their hometown’s area code, 303, which covers the Denver and Boulder area.

Flotbots, became a part of mainstream music in 2008 along with 3OH!3. The Denver formed Alternative Hip Hop group’s debut single “Handlebars,” became a Top 40 hit reaching, number 37 on the Hot 100 and number 3 on Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks. Flobots released their major label debut album Fight With Tools in Ocotber of 2007. Second single “Rise” peaked at number 33 on Hot Modern Rock Tracks in 2008 as well.

Introduced to the world by producer Timbaland, OneRepublic has quite possibly become one of the biggest acts to come out of Colorado. Started in Colorado Springs by lead singer Ryan Tedder and guitarist Zach Filkins, OneRepublic has went on to have their platinum selling debut single “Apologize,” nearly top the Hot 100, peaking at number 2. The band quickly came to fame primarily thanks to association with Timbaland and eventually released their now platinum selling debut album Dreaming Out Loud in November of 2007. “Stop And Stare,” became their second successful single, and peaked at number 12 on the Hot 100. Since OneRepublic became the well-known group it is today, Tedder has also found time to venture into producing and songwriting for other artists as well; Most commonly known for co-writing Leona Lewis’s number 1 “Bleeding Love,” and Beyonce’s Top 10, “Halo.”

The band, who initially brought Colorado music to mainstream, was undoubtedly The Fray in 2005. The Fray found success by creating commercially friendly Pop Rock tunes, heavily driven by piano. After releasing “Over My Head (Cable Car),” as their first single they became a well respected mainstream band. With their follow-up “How To Save A Life,” they even became more successful with promotion from various television shows including ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy; catapulting their album to double platinum status in return. Returning in late 2008 with their self titled album’s lead single “You Found Me,” they earned an impressive third platinum selling Hot 100 Top 10 hit.

Clearly unthought-of markets are becoming the place to find breakout artists and bands. After seeing such bands earn respect and achieve success from Colorado, it will indeed be interesting to see what will be next to come out of the Rocky Mountain state. Who knows maybe the next biggest act could come out of a little town/city near you!

Black Eyed Peas -The E.N.D. Album Artwork

UPDATE: This artwork above is newly released and is not what was reported on below. I actually feel the above artwork (green computer generated face) is less enticing than the previous thought to be artwork.

Check out the cover for the Black Eyed Peas 5th studio album, The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies). Seems the concept of the album will be a futuristic sound, as the cover follows roots made from the lead single's ("Boom Boom Pow") music video. I must say the logo is pretty cool! I'm hoping Fergie doesn't milk her green, headphone like braids for too long, cause that will get annoying. Though judging from press, she is running with the dark hair do lately.

Any way I'm am definitely looking forward to this album, It'll be an album I actually purchase this year-unless it gets leaked crazy early! The E.N.D. is in stores June 9th, 2009. What do you think of the cover, leave comments below!

Danity Kane Steals the Show...Together or Not!

Tonight's episode of Making The Band: The Final Chapter featured Day 26, Donnie, Diddy, and no one other than Danity Kane. Although Danity Kane only consisted of Aubrey, D. Woods, Dawn, and Shannon on the show, they still managed to steal the show even without Aundrea.

During the show Day 26 performed 3 time,s to promote their sophomore album which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. As well as Donnie Klang who performed a song off his album entitled "Pick It Up." It was a tad bit funny to hear Aubrey discredit Dawn, and speak over her after Dawn stated that everyone supported Aubrey's stint on Broadway. Aubrey backfired and said it was only D. Woods who supported her! Ouch!

Shannon said she spoke to Aundrea and her reasons for not coming were basically that she was the emotional one of the group, and was taking time to be with her family. Pretty much that she didn't want or need to deal with the expect Diddy BS, is what I'm thinking! I truly hope Aundrea finds a home at a great label who will support her solo career, because I could seriously see her being an easy well liked solo artist.

What the future holds...

As for Diddy's sacred little Dawn, she is supposed to be joining Diddy as one of his female band mates on his Last Train To Paris album/phase he's going through currently. Pretty much meaning he will give Dawn extra air time for exposure on his Making His Band show-pretty slick huh, ugh I think not. This pretty much is to boost Dawn's appeal for her Bad Boy solo debut album, which Diddy himself said was coming soon. I do not see this being a big album, and I still cannot dig Dawn's voice for an entire album, so she definitely better bring it, especially to make Pop fans enjoy her music. Dawn was rocking the latest, "I'm trying to be a major solo artist hairdo" so I'm gonna lose the weave and have a short-do, infamously made by Rihanna. Keri Hilson, has done the same to her hair!

D. Woods, seemed to appear on the show basically for self promotion reasons. Especially since after not showing up on the last finale which she was asked to appear on. Any who she is said to have heard from various labels who are interested in singing her, as well as working on her solo debut album. She made it seem as if she was already in pretty good hands, so the future will only tell how that ends up going for her. Previous rumors stated she was involved with another girl group

Sweet Miss Shannon, seemed to come into her own, on tonight's show, where she actually seemed to speak up, and tell how she saw things. Very good to see Shannon almost become a new person tonight! Not to mention of all of the girls she looked the best by a mile. She stated that she was getting involved with some web site, and said who knows, you may see her becoming/going Country for a solo debut album. Probably the best sure route for her, but I would definitely like to see Shannon become a Pop artist, over Country. If she had the right promo team, she could be something in the Pop world, various people have stated she was the best dancer in Danity Kane.

Last but definitely not least we heard from the fiery little diva in the making, Aubrey. Oh god I love me some Aubrey! She knows exactly how to bring the attention onto herself, which is what you need to make yourself a bigger star, than you currently are. Her future solo endeavors include going back to Broadway for another musical, as well as focusing on Fall 2009 reality TV show, which will probably be about her day to day life and her journey to make her solo debut album. Something to look forward for, but she better hope it doesn't get canceled cause that would not be a good look in any way!

As a whole...

Danity Kane seems to be in the same mind set, and Diddy pretty much agreed with them. The four seemed pretty open for a Danity Kane reunion, except the thing was, nobody wanted it to be right now! They all are to concentrated on their solo projects to commit to a Danity Kane album. So that goes for the internet hoax about their third studio album, From The Ashes, which they were supposedly said to be in the studio recording. Diddy even went to say on the show in front of all four of five members that there would not be another Danity Kane, unless it was the original 5 members. Though ironically he went on to say he will create another superstar female group, who will hopefully respect the opportunity more and learn how to deal with things that come along with groups, although saying , not that these ladies (Danity Kane ) didn't... Kinda odd, but yeah-it's Diddy!

The way I see it, is if Danity Kane doesn't reunite within a year, maybe two years max, who is really going to be checking for them! They will becoming part of the past, another group to be and go in the mid 2000s. I did enjoy their music as a group, but if they don't get their act together collectively soon, IMO there will be no need for a DK reunion, as sad as that may sound!

Black Eyed Peas Product Place "Pow"

So, earlier today the anticipated video for the Black Eyed Peas, already and currently Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single, "Boom Boom Pow," was released. Check out the video below.

Overall the video did meet its match by making it seem futuristic ("I'm so 3000 and 8") like the song's sound. It was interesting to see the Peas each with their own solo shots, nice to see the two unknown members get recognized, more so. If you pay attention to the video closely you'll notice it seems to be a direct product placement for an HP touchable screen. Great move BEP, and It's almost so subtle that if you don't think to hard into it, it's easily miss-able.

It won't be a surprise to hear "Boom Boom Pow," featured in an legitimate commercial for this HP product, since they definitely pimped out their video well for HP.

Oh and the tree definitely reminds me of the VH1 Soul logo, am I the only one who does see that? Leave comments below!

New Christina Milian Snippet: "Zipper"

Today a snippet of one of Christina Milian's track "Zipper" from her upcoming album entitled Elope leaked today. "Zipper" is definitely a song that could make people remember Milian's name. The uptempo club track, features an overly catchy chorus. Sadly the song was the intended 2nd single but was changed to "Supersonic," which features supposed fiance The-Dream. Any who the track is produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, as well as most of the album is expected to be, since Christina Milian signed a joint venture deal with The-Dream's Radio Killa label.

Boom Boom NOW!

Finally the Black Eyed Peas (which sometimes sounds like Will.I.Am & Fergie only) received their first Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single, with their lead single to their upcoming album, "Boom Boom Pow."

The Energy Never Dies AKA The E.N.D. has been said to be the Pea's last album, which wouldn't be surprising with Fergie's recent solo success, and hence the title, END! Regardless I personally am really excited to hear their new album, the Black Eyed Peas commercially friendly Hip Hop Pop sound is infectious to say the least.

With that being said it's great that they finally earned their 1st Hot 100 number 1 single, which actually has topped the Hot 100 for it's second week in a row; I do think past singles released by them may have been more deserving of the number 1 spot. "Boom Boom Pow," hasn't fully grown on me, but it is catchy thanks to Fergs, but I like songs like "My Humps," and "Lets Get It Started," better. Any who their album The E.N.D. is slatted for a release on June 9th, 2009.

Rihanna -We're Waiting...Wherever You Are!

I know this is going to sound completely crazy to some people, but I surprisingly am missing Rihanna.

I am completely sick and tired of hearing about the whole February Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic abuse scandal. It's really old and played out, yet still gaining massive amounts of media exposure- Chris does need some substantial punishment, and Rihanna you should NOT get back with him.

With that being said quickly, I could really go for a new Rihanna single, album... but I do not want to hear something off of 2007, yes OH SEVEN's Good Girl Gone Bad being released as a single, I do not care if it's remixed either! Let it die out peacefully. I have heard some of her demos or songs being presented to her including "Hatin' On The Club," and "Emergency Room."

I am really liking "Emergency Room," and whether it's Rihanna or not whose singing on the leaked version, I could definitely be released as a "Take A Bow" Part II. Supposedly Mario wrote the song, and there also is a version out there with his vocals on it too. Interesting, cause Rihanna and Mario on a duet sounds very odd to me. Surprisingly as well I heard "Hatin' On The Club" played on (one of my) my home town's radio station, had me thinking is a Rihanna album on the way..... But still no official word yet.

This all is really different for Rihanna to take a break... Because right after "If It's Lovin' That You Want," started to die down she moved quickly onto her sophomore album's lead single "S.O.S. (Rescue Me)." And the same thing happened when "Break It Off" wasn't getting a video filmed and peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100, we quickly after started to hear "Umbrella," off of her third album. So it's kind of odd for Def Jam to give Rihanna a break, I wonder if it is because of the abuse scandal, or if its from Def Jam realizing that if another Rihanna single was released so quickly people would seriously have got sick of her, and her near Beyonce number 1 song quality factor would slowly die down. Makes you wonder.

Bye Bye BLENDER

I must say I was extremely upset to find out that my favorite music magazine, BLENDER ceased recently. Their last issue being the April 2009 Kelly Clarkson covered issue.

I've been following BLENDER magazine religiously since 2003! BLENDER was a great music magazine for fans of all musical genres. From Country to Hip Hop BLENDER always had it covered. The magazine was so unique because it was maturely written but still very easy to read and interesting. BLENDER always had great articles, artist spotlights, cartoons, stories, anything; you name it they mostly likely had it. Its a very sad day in music magazines to see a magazine like BLENDER go down the drain. Ironically before their publications end, I did notice the magazine switched down size to a smaller magazine, guess it's the economy that did this to BLENDER-very sad!

BLENDER, what about the rest of my subscription? Luckily I didn't renew yet!

Diddy Is and Was the Cause...Danity Kane No More ?

So on tonight's part 1 of the season finale of Making The Band 4, Diddy started the show out by getting straight to the point that everybody, well more than 50% of whats left of Making The Band's viewers wanted to know.

HE quickly stated than he was going to release all members of Danity Kane from their contracts except Dawn. Yes he did release Aundrea from her contract, which in my opinion was a really messed up thing to do. Aundrea waited all along this season's filming of Making The Band, to find out if Danity Kane would be getting revamped in any sort of way possible, and Diddy flat out drops her! I mean I think he could have at least gave her a 1 or 2 album contract.

In the end Diddy certainly got his wish, since he is only left with the only member of Danity Kane, who he truly wanted from the git go: Dawn Richard! It's pretty clear to see that if DK doesn't get back together that Diddy will release an album from Dawn on Bad Boy. He already supposedly has Dawn writing music for Cassie (epic fail, including her half shaved head and all) so it only seems legit for him to give her the solo deal that's been speculated for years now.

The only shocking event left to see is next weeks part 2 of the finale, where Danity Kane is said to possibly be in whole (5 members) on stage with Diddy. Though I really do not see this going very far, Diddy is bluntly rude with Aubrey, even if she slightly changed he wouldn't like her vibe. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who see's that too. I just thought it was funny in which the order of their solo pictures that they showed--Anybody else notice it was in the order of who Diddy is in good terms with most currently: Dawn....Aundrea...Shannon...D. Woods...Aubrey!

I also was not feeling Dawn's over the top happy, I must move on, attitude during her photo shoot on tonight's show, very arrogant and overly cocky. Again I do not think she will ever be a huge solo star-time will tell.

Singer Songwriter’s Serially Delayed Debut | Keri Hilson 'In A Perfect World...' CD Review

She sung the hook on Timbaland’s massive hit single “The Way I Are,” and has writing credits for hit singles “Gimme More” by Britney Spears, “Runaway Love,” by Ludacris and “Ice Box,” by Omarion. So clearly Keri Hilson is no foreigner to the top. After signing a joint venture deal with two of Hip Hop’s hottest producers, Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group and Polow Da Don’s Zone 4, it seemed like Hilson had a definite quick shot at super stardom.

To set her name apart from her big name label head producers, Hilson decided to release a debut single which neither produced nor she wrote. She enlisted The Runaways, who created her debut single, “Energy.” Managing to peak at number 78 on the Billboard Hot 100; it was clear that Hilson’s separation wasn’t helping her succeed. Pushing back Hilson’s In A Perfect World… for one of its many times.

For her follow up second single, “Return The Favor,” Hilson visited known ground, and rejoined forces with Timbaland who produced and was featured on the track. The Ms. Pacman sounding Dance Pop tune was reminiscent of Timbaland’s 2006 Nelly Furtado collaboration “Promiscuous.” Nearly an attempt to recreate it two years later, Timbaland’s formula of selling Hilson’s sexuality with the songs message and video didn’t even come close to Furtado’s number 1 success; as the song didn’t even chart on any Billboard charts.

Shortly after “Return The Favor"’s failed takeoff, Hilson released the third single off of In A Perfect World… “Turnin’ Me On.” The song features current hot rapper Lil’ Wayne, and Hilson’s altered voice to sound more robotic to match Wayne’s auto tune usage. With Hilson’s slick stick it to men attitude that she brought to the track, and Wayne’s polished rhyme the song became a hit, and has so far reached number 15 on the Hot 100; becoming Hilson’s highest charting single as a lead artist. “Turnin’ Me On,” is also credited for securing a release date for In A Perfect World… which had been delayed since 2007.

Timbaland’s protégé Danja locked in the fourth single, “Knock You Down.” The song features fellow singer songwriter Ne-Yo, who shares his vocals for a verse, as well as the media hungry Kanye West who adds a rap. The motivational ‘love’s tough, try again’ song definitely showcases Hilson’s vocals more than “Turnin’ Me On.” Here the three artists definitely manage to create a song that all of their fans will eat up and enjoy.

On the standout track “Alienated,” Hilson shines as she demonstrates her creative writing skills. With a few unique metaphors and a chorus that could get stuck in anyone’s head, Hilson could have another radio hit. In the song Hilson expresses her sorrow as she raps, “Feels like we've been apart for some light years/Credit in my heart, filled with my tears.” She also loses cell phone contact as she searches for her lost love, “I miss you and I want you back/I lost your signal, Where you at?/And I don't know how we lost contact/Where did you go?”

Keri Hilson delivers a solid R&B effort, with In A Perfect World… Creating a mix of club ready jams and mid-tempo love songs with minimal guest features, In A Perfect World… was a perfect debut for Hilson to stake her claim as a lead artist in the music industry. As a blooming talent who has been around for some time, Keri Hilson has all she needs to keep her name in the forefront instead of the writing credits.

Singer Songwriter’s Mediocre Follow-up | The-Dream 'Love vs. Money' CD Review

After penning 2007s biggest number 1 summer single, “Umbrella,” for Rihanna, Mariah Carey’s 18th number 1 single “Touch My Body,” Beyonce’s number 1 female anthem “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” and the release of his debut album Love Hate (Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter), Terius Nash commonly known as The-Dream found time to work on his sophomore project.

“Let Me See The Booty,” a track produced by Atlanta heavyweight, Lil Jon, was initially listed to jumpstart Love vs. Money. The not so radio friendly song had little to no impact on radio & charts, subsequently becoming seen as the album’s promotional single.

Officially setting off the project was the single, “Rockin’ That Sh*t.” With enough personality to keep fans singing and rhythm to keep them dancing, it managed to peak at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 (as of March 21st, 2009s charting week). The official remix includes an all-star group of Hip Hop artists, including Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross, and Ludacris. Though the remix features the exact same instrumental as the original and limited vocals from The-Dream, each rapper adds their own persona to make the track even more addictive than before.

Following “Rockin’ That Sh*t,” becoming an R&B hit, The-Dream decided to release the Pop flavored “My Love.” Past collaborator Mariah Carey, definitely adds to the appeal of the duet. The mid-tempo single “My Love,” currently rising up the Hot 100 has the potential to become The-Dream’s biggest Pop hit, as a singer and songwriter.

On the supposed future single, “Walking On The Moon,” The-Dream brings along rapper Kanye West. The songs Dance Pop feel mixed with a verse from West help make the song more enjoyable and perfect for the dance floor. The-Dream illustrates his love, as he states, “I’ll pull down a cloud for you, I'll circle the stars and bring you and back, I'll walk through the sun for you.” A song that was quite different for the singer songwriter, but certainly something he and West handled well together.

The-Dream constructs slick, unique love songs on Love vs. Money such as “Kelly’s 12 Play.” He even ends the song with a bit of self promotion, “now we doin’ it, to Dreams Love Hate.” Also managing catchy songs, like “Mr. Yeah.” Where The Dream announces how he is the perfect can do it all, type of guy.

Despite the fact, that The-Dream is a great songwriter and has the stats to prove it; lyrically he manages to get lost throughout Love vs. Money. While you can expect to hear extraordinary production on the majority of Love vs. Money, the issue is that many songs don’t allow The-Dream’s little vocal range to outshine the production. In turn making certain songs sound rather similar vocally. Nevertheless the album is filled with a great deal of sexually charged R&B, which will have classic R&B fans craving more of The-Dreams uniquely written music.

Female Throwback Jam: “You Gotta Be” 3/21/2009

This weeks Female Throwback Jam, comes to us from 90s R&B Soul singer Des'ree. Her motivational hit single "You Gotta Be," eventually reached number 5 with it's re-release on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995. Different versions of the song were released, and it peaked at number 16 in 1994.

All She Could Want | Kelly Clarkson 'All I Ever Wanted' CD Review

After an extremely disappointed third album, My December, completely co-written by Kelly Clarkson herself, things weren’t looking to good for the original American Idol. Nearly two years after its release Clarkson came back with vengeance; reconstructing the sound from her six times platinum selling, sophomore album Breakaway, and adding a modern twist to it.

In January 2009 Kelly Clarkson became the only American Idol to have two Billboard Hot 100 number 1 singles, with her lead single “My Life Would Suck Without You;” eventually holding the number 1 spot for a total of two consecutive weeks. The lead single merges the Pop Rock edge of her 2005 hit single “Since U Been Gone,” with the Electro Pop Dance feel of Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold.” Taking part in the current Electronic Dance Pop music’s popularity was a brilliant move on Clarkson’s behalf.

On All I Ever Wanted, Clarkson manages to create a great Pop album; featuring a taste of Pop Rock, Electronic Dance, Rock and Pop music. Helping Clarkson includes multiple big name producers and songwriters. Two most noticeable including, Katy Perry who helped co-write two songs, and Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic, famous for penning the number 1 single “Bleeding Love.”) produced and co-wrote four songs off of the album. Also Howard Benson, who has credits for many popular Pop Rock artists, produced a total of five songs off of the album. Ms. Clarkson herself ended up co-penning five songs as well, while producing one too.

On “Don’t Let Me Stop You,” Clarkson brings back the vibe of her past single, “Behind These Hazel Eyes.” The catchy Pop Rock song would do great at radio. The sass filled “Don’t Let Me Stop You” has Clarkson singing, “I'm not down to share you with anyone, if that's not what you're looking for, nice knowing you, but there's the door.” The song tells how she isn’t here to play any relationship games and is not trying to hold her significant other back. Female anthems “I Do Not Hook Up,” and “Long Shot,” follow similar Pop Rock roots as “Don’t Let Me Stop You,” also.

The Ryan Tedder produced “Already Gone,” bears a striking resemblance to his recently produced song “Halo,” performed by Beyonce. The laid back mid tempo song features clever lyrical content while also showing off Clarkson’s vocal ability. On the breakup song Clarkson confesses, “You couldn't have loved me better, but I want you to move on, so I'm already gone.”

Changing up the pace, once again is a Tedder produced track entitled, “If I Can’t Have You.” The song could easily blow up the Dance radio charts. The intense Electro Pop sound is something entirely different for both Clarkson and Tedder, though it turned out to be an excellent addition.

Surprisingly Kelly Clarkson added a good amount of enjoyable Pop songs on All I Ever Wanted. The simplistic “Ready,” introduces a great melody and a perfect sing along chorus. While the flirty “I Want You,” has a catchy retro dance sound to it. On the contrary we hear an extremely hard Rock inspired Clarkson, nearly screaming on “Whyyawannabringmedown.”

Overall Clarkson doesn’t disappoint on All I Ever Wanted. This might just be the album to give Clarkson all she could want, another big selling album to her name. By creating an album with various enjoyable music, Clarkson serves up at least one song everyone could love. With already a number 1 single from the album, look for All I Ever Wanted to be one of 2009s biggest albums.

Beat Freaks | America's Best Dance Crew '09

So I said it at the beginning of this season, that a girl crew would win, and to me it's already set in stone. With three dance crews left, them being Beat Freaks (an all female crew), Quest Crew (an all male crew), and Fly Khicks (another all female crew); I am almost certain Beat Freaks will win.

By the praise they got from their performance to Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold," where JC called them the "prop masters" and Shane Sparks called them "America's Best Dance Crew," over just simply the prop masters, they are a shoo-in to win. They really did a good job performing on last weeks show. And could'nuv felt any better after the judges review of them.

I think it's kinda random how one of the girls in Beat Freaks, was actually one of Gwen Stefani's [former] Harujuku Girls, Rino Nakasone AKA Music (Love. Angel. Music. Baby.)

Danity Future : As I Currently See It!

The way I see it coming along as of now is that this season of Making The Band we will get to see Danity Kane come together as a trio, being Dawn-Aundrea-Shannon, and I think they may make music together. Not an album, but I do see them releasing a single or two, so Diddy can test the waters to see if people still are vibing Danity Kane.

Then I see the following season finding a way to reach out to D. Woods and maybe Aubrey, but def. D. Woods. Then I see the four of them (all minus Aubrey) them doing sort of another test trial by releasing a single digitally. And if it does well enough, creating and releasing an album.

Then for the next season I see them making the entire group reunion, and inviting Aubrey back to be a part of Danity Kane. Giving her a chance to do her own thing (which some may consider wild) and then have her see what she'll miss without Danity Kane. But in the end I do think see (as of now) all 5 girls of DK getting back together and releasing an album again together. It'll be called 'Danity Reunited,' or something like that.

IMM [In my mind] it isn't smart for Diddy to think about giving Dawn a solo career this early in the game. He needs to establish her group b4 thinking solo terms and contracts. All I know is I think Danity Kane no matter how many members are in it, 3,4,5 (don't know about 2) they should release new music, they really were a successful group. Is it a publicity stunt, ehhh, maybe, probably is. But they did make music as a 5-some well! As of now, I guess DK will remain damaged!

Chris Brown's 2nd Chance?

Christopher Maurice Brown....

Seems like the world was his, am I wrong? Never did I think I would be hearing about Chris Brown having any run ins with the law any time soon. But just like Lindsay Lohan, Shia Labeouf, the list goes on, so I'm going to stop it right there; Young Hollywood always seems to end up in some sort of trouble.

Oddly enough Chris Brown could not have wanted much worse things to be his first big mishap. Supposedly beating, choking, biting, and threatening his Pop sensation [girl]friend Rihanna, doesn't have his future looking so bright at the moment. Yes Chris Brown is young, he may have made a mistake, but is this something that should be over looked?

Judging by the leaked police photo of Rihanna, which included a knot on her forehead, a busted lip, and swollen parts on her face (lips, nose, cheeks) something somewhat serious went down. Knowing that Chris Brown's mother was beat by his step father in the past, you would think he would have the knowledge to step not commit abuse himself-guess not. Not saying he is guilty, and Rihanna did nothing, but if Chris Brown was the sole cause of all of Rihanna's injuries, should his career get the chance to continue?

There are tons of young guys who probably can dance, sing, and put on a show similar to Chris Brown so why not give someone who wouldn't beat up a woman a chance to fill his void. Does Chris Brown deserve another shot at continuing his career. He had the world at his hands, and let whatever was between him and Rihanna escalate to the point where her hit a woman.

Is that OK, or deserving of a second chance, what message does that send to youth who knows of this situation; not a good one. If you are somebody who is completely 100% saying Chris Brown just made one mistake, and that he is deserving of a second chance, think about a woman who you love, a sister, mother, grandmother, wife, best girl friend getting beaten by someone. Does this change your perception of the situation, because it should not, whatever your stance is it should be a universal rule of how you feel about domestic violence.

Domestic violence needs to be stopped, and how can we learn that it is not OK by allowing someone so much in the public eye, to get away scot-free?

[As a side note, I do like Chris Brown as an artist, and in no way am I trying to get at him as an artist. You have to put him as a random human being, and not the celebrity he is in this situation. I do enjoy his music, and I could potentially like his future music, but I don't know if this all is true if I could fully support him as an artist.]

3rd Times A Charm | "Love Sex Magic" -Ciara & Justin Timberlake

I can not be the only one feeling that Ciara is scrapping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to her originality lately. As she still struggles to release her 3rd album Fantasy Ride, the single choice hasn't been on point, is a light statement.

"Go Girl," which featured T-Pain just wasn't half as catchy or energetic as it should have been, and quickly got forgotten. T-Pain, what happen to your Top 10 magic? Since it has been switched from being labeled as a lead/1st single to the albums buzz single; even though a video was created for it [sounds like a failed single, to me].

The second shot at jump starting Fantasy Ride, brought us a mid tempo collaboration featuring Young Jeezy. With a semi-catchy sampled chorus, "Never, Ever" managed to gain more attention than its previous, but not enough for LaFace [Records-Ciara's Label]. [Which is odd because I was actually starting to like the song, the more and more I heard it!]

Trying for a 3rd attempt, only a month after the initial release of "Never Ever," Ciara's next collaborative choice, was no one other than Justin Timberlake. Good collaboration when you first think about it huh? But "Love Sex Magic," just doesn't cut it for me. It seems overly Poppy for Ciara's style, and after disliking the song's demo [done solo by Justin Timberlake] and not liking it doesn't help either. "Love Sex Magic," really seems like the type of song you would have to let grow on you, as an R&B fan, though if you love Pop or Dance music, it's definitely for you!

Over all it just comes off as a forced, awkward duet. The duo could have done a lot better. Timberlake's production on this song, doesn't match his previous work such as "Dead And Gone," or "4 Minutes." They basically went for an extremely club song, with a massive Dance Pop feel to it. Who knows, since Pop is whats selling, especially for the average R&B artist (Rihanna, Beyonce) maybe this will finally help catapult Fantasy Ride, for the public to hear. I'm just hoping in the end, they continue to push "Never, Ever" at R&B and Rhythmic radio because over time, people will like that song, more and more too.

It's really funny, when you think about MTV now days compared to it back around the late 90s and early 2000s. If you tuned into Music Television AKA MTV then you could expect to find shows like Total Request Live (TRL), Diary ("You think you know, but you have no idea..."), Say What Karaoke, Direct Effect, TRL Wannabes, Becoming, Making The Video, MTV Unplugged, and other shows which clearly involved music.

But ever since around 2005 or so it almost seemed like MTV should have became Media Television; since most of their music related shows were disappearing in favor of reality shows. A model which many stations were choosing in the reality TV wave of reality TV over sitcoms. many dating shows including Next, Room Raiders, Date My Mom, A Shot At Love..., Parental Control, and Dismissed. While still finding time to air shows such as Making The Band, The Hills, Run's House, Boiling Points, True Life, and Cribs among others have all received long runs on the network, many which still are airing new episodes.

Thinking of the music programs MTV currently airs, the only show that comes to mind is FNMTV. Which isn't even aired daily, and has been off season for a good while, by now. This seriously is sad. And in no way should the late night music videos that are played when little to no one is watching count as a musical program. For a network which started as putting music first, seeing them follow the reality route is extremely disappointing.

While rolling out new reality shows like The City, Bromance, and From G's To Gent's; one can only wonder if in the future MTV will regain it's mark in music television, and start to play shows with less emphasis on reality and more on music!

Male Throwback Jam: “Give It To You” 2/14/2009

The weeks Male Throwback Jam of the Week comes to us from Pop superstar Jordan Knight. although he didn't receive much success for his solo career, by all means his addition to New Kids On The Block and his solo single "Give It To You," qualifies him as a Pop Star. "Give It To You," featured all of the Bubblegum Pop things, the late 90s could offer to us. It eventually peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. It came off of his, self titled, solo debut album, Jordan Knight.

The video features a carnival setup with Knight as he dances to various routines throughout the circus. The intro music adds to the video's beginning as well. Other scenes of the video feature Knight walking throughout the Circus as he is looking at the lead girl who makes a transformation in the video.

An ironic fact about the song that many people don't know, is that Robin Thicke was one of the writers of "Give It To You." As well as Knight, Terry Lewis, and James Harris III. More Recently, Jordan Kinight with NKOTB reunited and released an album entiteled The Block in 2008-their first studio album in 14 years.

Female Throwback Jam: “Red Light Special” 2/14/2009

This weeks Female Throwback Jam of the week is definitely a classic R&B Jam. It comes to us from legendary 90s female group TLC. "Red Light Special," came off of their now Diamond, yes that's over 10x Platinum, sophomore album CrazySexyCool. The racy song was released second single, and managed to peak at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995.

In the video T-Boz, (the late) Left Eye, and Chilli in a proactive sexual scene where the girls were dressed in various outfits including as men in one case. The women of TLC were playing cards with men and singing to the song in the video as well as.

TLC managed to become one of the most memorable female groups from the 90s and will forever be remembered in the Music Industry for all of what they've accomplished. unfortunately Left Eye passed away on Thursday, April 25th, 2002, from a car accident in Honduras. Meaning TLC was practically no more. Still their classic music, videos, images, etc. live on.

The Fray Recreates Signature Sound | The Fray 'The Fray' CD Review

Back in 2005, Colorado finally earned its mark in current mainstream music with help of Alternative Rock band, The Fray. The four piece piano laced group released their debut single, “Over My Head (Cable Car),” which managed to reach number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Continuing with their success, The Fray released “How To Save A Life,” which became an even bigger hit with some thanks to ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and a load of other shows playing it. ‘Life’ managed to peak at number 3 on the Hot 100, allowing The Fray to prove they were definitely here to stay.

Nearly four years after the release of the two times platinum album, How To Save A Life, The Fray returned back onto the scene with new music. Once again, ABC adopted the bands lead single for promotion of the fifth season of Lost. “You Found Me,” became the groups third top 10 single (peaking at number 7) on the Hot 100 in early 2009.

On their self titled, sophomore release, The Fray continues with their signature Pop Rock, piano driven tunes. Evidently becoming the distinct sound they go for on the entire album. Every song from the album could certainly do well at Adult Contemporary radio; Even though vocal range isn’t the strong point of lead singer, Isaac Slade; he manages to convey the emotion filled tracks exceptionally well. The realistic lyrical content is definitely a driving point for The Fray’s music and their ability to touch the lives of their listeners.

Standout album cuts including “Absolute,” and “Syndicate,” could easily become future successful singles for The Fray. Both Feature captivating instrumentals and radio pleasant vocals similar to their past high charting singles. “Absolute” questions, “Is this all we get to be absolute? Quiet but I’m sure there is something here, tell me everything cause I want to hear.” While the bittersweet tune “Syndicate” features Slade crooning, “Baby close your eyes, don’t open till the morning light, don’t ever forget, we haven't lost it all yet.”

Although The Fray, is only a ten track CD, it features multiple unique songs, including the must hear grief filled, “Enough For Now.”

The Fray seems to have picked the perfect time to jump back into the music scene. With helpful promotion from ABC, and committed fans, The Fray is sure to become another hit album for the band. By continuing the sound they’re known for, their sophomore album will easily maintain loyal fans, while attracting new ones, as well. Not to mention since The Fray holds the top two iTunes Top Albums charting positions, their sophomore album will without doubt top How To Save A Life’s Billboard 200 peak of 14.

Katy Perry's Drunk Escapade: 51st Grammy Awards Edition

So from the TV Guide red carpet special to even her performance on the 51st Grammy Awards stage, the bi-curious Katy Perry seriously seemed out of it. From the interview with Lisa Rinna & Joey Fatone Jr. she were she was looking off into out of the camera's view, to her odd responses to questions. During her performance she really seemed out of it, luckily on her part she didn't stumble- and the song doesn't call for extreme vocals! Her dance moves seemed way off and as if she didn't practice them enough. Should we expect a "Leave Katy Alone," video in the coming days or what?

Clearly as a nominated new artist, who was performing at what many consider music's biggest night, Ms. Perry wasn't appreciative of her chance to show the world she was worthy of her nominations and chance to perform her hit single.

Male Throwback Jam: “Touch Me, Tease Me” 2/7/2009

This weeks, Male Throwback Jam of the week comes to us from R&B singer Case. The collaborative "Touch Me, Tease Me," featured three up and coming stars Case of course, R&B singer Mary J. Blige, and rapper Foxy Brown. "Touch Me, Tease Me," was included on Case's debut album Case and the soundtrack to The Nutty Professor. It eventually reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100; becoming his first Hot 100 charting song in 1996.

The video started out with a case which opened and began to play, the song. Foxy Brown started to rap in front of a black screen, followed by Case singing after. Clips of the movie, can be seen throughout the video as well. Mary J. Blige appears during the chorus to sing her part of the song. The video ends with the same case being closed.

Case had more success with 98's "Faded Pictures," and 01's "Missing You," became his biggest single to date peaking at number 4 on the Hot 100.

Female Throwback Jam: “Show Me Love” 2/7/2009

This weeks Female Throwback Jam of the week comes to us from 90s Swedish Pop singer Roby. her single "Show Me Love," became a hit in the U.S. and eventually reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Show Me Love," came off of Robyn's platinum certified debut album Robyn Is Here which was released on June 24th, 1997 in the U.S.

The music video to "Show Me Love," featured Robyn on a simple green screen set up with a band and a group of people lined up, showing affection to others. The video was primarily shot in black and white, though there is scenes where Robyn is shown in color; wearing a turquoise top. The video ends with a guy coming up to Robyn and hugging her, and then precedes to kiss her.

As of lately Robyn has changed her sound, and ventured into more of a Hip Hop & Pop sound as she raps in some of her songs. The sound is definitely more edgy but still good music nonetheless. To hear Robyn's new sound check out "Handle Me" [Red One Remix].

Male Throwback Jam: “Same Ol' G” 1/31/2009

The weeks Male Throwback Jam come to us from Ginuwine. His Dr. Dolittle Soundtrack single, "Same Ol' G," was released in 1998, as a single. It was produced by frequent collaborator Timbaland who actually had a spoken part on the track as well.

The song lyrics show of how Ginuwine is in fact still the same Ginuwine who people knew. Saying that even though he may be on TV, that doesn't change him.

The video featured Ginuwine dancing with female dancers on stage at a club, teaching his young son dance moves, and sitting in an empty apartment. It eventually shows the club where Ginuwine is at, has a Girls Only entry. Timbaland makes an appearance in the video as well multiple times.

Undeniable one of the great new wave of R&B performers from the 90s whose career led into the 2000s. Ginuwine is currently working on his album A Man's Thoughts-due in 2009.

Female Throwback Jam: “C'mon N' Ride It (The Train)” 1/31/2009

This weeks Female Throwback Jam actually comes to us from a male/female group Quad City DJs. Billing it as the female jam because the female parts obviously make this song, what it is. Quad City DJs consisted of Jay Ski, C.C. Lemonhead, & JeLana LaFleur.

“C'mon N' Ride It (The Train)” became a huge hit and reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Though it is widely known to many as their only single, the group actually had a follow song, which wasn't as big, and sung the theme song to the movie, Space Jam.

The video for “C'mon N' Ride It (The Train)” featured the group among a bunch of others in a room (which is perceived to be a space ship), as they basically have a dance party, and did the official dance to the song. instances of the video in many ways resemble Soul Train and the Soul Train Line. By all means this is definitely one of the most memorable 90s Dance songs.

"Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)" Video/Single Review

As Lady GaGa continues success with her debut single "Just Dance," which currently is the longest running Billboard Hot 100 # 1 single of 2009 (3 weeks), and has her follow single "Poker Face," rising up the charts including the Hot 100 (number 32 peak) and iTunes Top Songs (number 11).

The video for what is said to be the 4th U.S./Summer single "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)," was released for it's Australia release. The video features a slightly retro look, where GaGa is seen walking and having fun with girlfriends, and even in a household doing chores. The house scene shows resemblance to Ashanti's "Good Good," video as GaGa obviously shows off her more sexual side.

It's nice to see GaGa actually switch it up from the long blond wig [I hope that's not her (real) hair] she normally wears. In the video she wears a bow made of her hair, as well as retro looking hair-spray do's.

With people comparing "Eh, Eh (Nothing...)" to the sound of 90s EuroPop band Ace Of Base, it should easily become a nothing big song for Lady GaGa. I expect this to become a hit summer single in the U.S. for Lady GaGa as it has the perfect feel and vibe for summertime; with a video that compliments it well too.

The Ciara Formula-Polow Da Don-ized

Ciara obviously is experimenting with new sounds, because she clearly isn't doing her signature Crunk sound ("Goodies," "Get Up"). First failed lead single "Go Girl," featuring T-Pain, didn't manage to allow the album for a late 2008 release-probably because people expected a high energy single since T-Pain was the featured guest.

"Never, Ever" takes a semi-catchy sample for the chorus, and has Ciara sing it in an almost adolescent tone. It attempts to bring a light dance feel to a laid back track With the songs producer being Polow Da Don, who worked with Ciara on her only hit mid-tempo, "Promise," and a feature from Young Jeezy," (also featured in the Polow Da Don produced "Love In This Club") you can tell that plans to create a mix of the two songs was in mind.

It's nice to hear Ciara try new things, but sometimes you gotta stick to what your good at. Though many claim Ciara to be a "young Janet" and Janet did have success with ballads (such as "Again") so it makes sense for Ciara to want to slow down the tempo as well.

"Never, Ever" isn't a bad song, it just isn't what fans exactly expect from Ciara [minus the fact they do expect her singles to be collabos ("1, 2, Step," [featuring Missy Elliott] "Oh," [featuring Ludacris] "Can't Leave Em Alone," [featuring 50 Cent] the list goes on...) so the success of this single can go anyway! LeToya...On A Ne-Yo Reject?

LeToya-LeToya-LeToya! I do not think this was a strong lead single-to set of an album right. It's not a bad song, but I heard someone say it sounded like a song Ne-Yo rejected, and decided to give her... And it does. There isn't anything overly catchy about it.

The song sounds really better with heavy bass I must say. I wasn't to happy after purchasing LeToya's debut album, so I hope 'Lady Love,' can bring the heat and singles as well. Because if not she may be done after this album-Sorry Toya fans, but that's the truth!

I'd love to heard LeToya rock it on a club headed dance track- that's how the CD shoulda been sold on, not a mid-tempo! We'll see. Listen to "Not Anymore."

Danity Drama: 'Don' Through Day | Making The Band 4 Season 4

So, once again Making The Band/Diddy and MTV are really keeping every one's attention on Danity Kane, Day 26, and Donnie Klang with Season 4 of Making The Band(MTB).

Still the most interesting artist/group on the show has got to be Danity Kane by far. Not to mention they seem like the group who has or should I say had the most potential. With two number 1 albums and two Top 10 Hot 100 singles (YES, they should have more with two albums, but that's the Bad Boy Way-sell what matters, albums not singles) under their belt it all seems to becoming to an end for one of the 00's most promising new female groups. Do they ever last? There was Destiny's Child, 702, 3LW, and Dream (fellow Bad Boy group) just to name a few!

With Aubrey posing for February/march 09's issue of Playboy, D. Woods working with her group, Shannon's place in the group unknown (rumors her her leaving because of Diddy drama, not being in the trailer, and not wanting another season), only leaves for two certain members left. Aundrea who has told Diddy she wasn't happy with the group previously, and then there is what many believe Diddy is hoping to make his next check with (as a solo act), Dawn. Hmmm, don't think that solo career would last, let alone if it semi-worked!

Day 26, attempts to create more buzz with their dramatic fights in the preview as they prep their 2nd album (YES, already that's what I'm thinking) since their first failed to create any major buzz single wise. As for them, they can only hope that they can pull it together-As O-Town, Da Band, and Danity Kane have all proved to not stand the test of time.

As for Donnie Klang, he is really put in a bad position as Diddy puts all of his thoughts and ides toward the two groups, and little for Donnie. Doesn't he know it's harder to established fan base for a single artist rather a group? Not to say that he receives little to no air time on Making The Band. Personally he deserves another chance, especially since Diddy (You are not a cool rapper anymore, if you ever were!) corrupted his debut, by being the featured guest on his debut single ("Take You There")! "Dr. Love," could really become a hit for him.

Clearly with all of the issues- Staged or not bring on the next season of MTB4 Season4!
Let's just hope Diddy didn't stage the Danity Drama, because that will lost fans of theirs for sure, on the account of him!

Male Throwback Jam: “Summer Girls” 1/24/2009

Continuing with the throwback jam(s) of the week, is our Male Throwback Jam, which comes to us from the late 90s-early '00s Pop boy band Lyte Funk Ones, AKA LFO. LFO clearly was the last ranked in many peoples list of favorite boy bands but they did bring some good music to the scene. Mixing the ever so common Pop sound with a Pop influenced rap by lead singer Rich Cronin in some of their songs. "Summer Girls," was being played by all radio stations by the time of it's release and audiences didn't mind, the song reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The video to "Summer Girls," featured LFO having fun at a carnival as the walked from place to place performing the song. In the video you can see people break dancing and enjoying their selves at the beach.

The Throwback Jam(s) of the week for are back for The Saturday Night Countdown. Starting us off on the right foot, is the Female Throwback Jam, which comes to us from 1990s singer INOJ. Her remake of "Love You Down," was a big hit in 1997 reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was undeniably a common song to hear on the radio back then, and uniquely in ways introduces us to the mix of a ballad and Dance Pop.

The video which I never actually saw on television features INOJ out and about a college campus as she sings the song in various college like locations. in parts of the video she is seen at a dance as well.

Swagga Jacked by the American Idol Herself? | "My Life Would Suck Without You"

It seems Kelly Clarkson made an apt time for her comeback. After her 3rd album My December, which tanked in comparison to her 6x platinum selling Breakaway.

She returns with a not so new sound, from her first single; "My Life Would Suck Without You," which sounds exactly like the "Since U Been Gone" Clarkson mixed with the ever now popular ElectroPop-Rock sound that Katy Perry brings to her music on singles such as "Hot & Cold." Obiviously they chose the safe route for Clarkson, since she couldn't afford to have another album not do well. Max Martin & Dr. Luke also wrote the song, who've had big successes with Pink ("So What"), Avril Lavigne ("Girlfriend"), Brintey Spears ("Circus"), and previously Clarkson ("Since U Been Gone"). All I Ever Wanted is due on March 10th, 2009.

I'm expecting the majority of the music to revisit the sound from Breakaway, but stay current to popular music-and ElectroPop is in, just ask Britney, & newcomer Lady GaGa who both landed at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 ("Womanizer" & "Just Dance")

Two odd things regarding the release of "My Life Would Suck Without You," is that iTunes is oddly billing it as: "My Life Would S**k Without You." It really s**ks because I never knew s**k always meant something dirty. Nevertheless it managed to quickly peak at number 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart- which means it will be in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 next week. Guess I was wrong! But also the cover to 'My Life...' strikingly resembles Crazy Town's album cover for their 1999 album, The Gift Of Game. seems like Crazy Town deserves some sort of royalty for inspiring the cover. I mean both clearly have the same positions and everything, just look at it above!

Artists On The Come Up: Asher Roth

With a year full of new artists in our past, 2009 brings for another group of new artists. One who seems to be making a name already for himself is Asher Roth. Roth proves that he can flow on some of Hip Hop's most popular beats, and even on a tracks of his own.

On Roth's freestyle to Lil' Wayne's "A Milli." he speaks out on current issues affecting people. He raps about everything from donating to charity, impoverished people, and gas prices. Roth even throws in a punch at Bush by comparing his actions toward Clinton.

"I Love College," features Roth going back to his past college days reminiscing about everything from college parties to hook ups. The song's beat adds to the songs laid back, easy going appeal; perfect for radio airplay.

On the freestyle called "Cannon," Roth introduces his comical side of rapping that something is wrong with the world, "when Mariah has married Nick Cannon!" On this track Roth's style will have many comparisons to Eminem, a fellow white rapper; though his influences include Outkast, Mos Def , and others.

So in a few months if Asher Paul Roth is promoted correctly, Hip Hop may gain another emcee which many will soon respect & love.

2008 was a pretty great and big year for music in general. Multiple new artists such as Katy Perry, Jazmine Sullivan, Colby O'Donis, & Metro Station became popular, while even older acts including Ashanti, Brandy, Beyonce, Lil' Wayne & T.I. came back to the spotlight with albums. Not to mention major comebacks such as Britney Spears.

Who Do You Choose: Katy Perry or Lady GaGa?

Two of the biggest break out female Pop artists of 2008 were undoubtedly Katy Perry and Lady GaGa.

Katy Perry topped the Billboard Hot 100 with her controversial hit single "I Kissed A Girl," and I'm sure she liked it, holding the number 1 spot for seven consecutive weeks beginning July 5th, 2008. Her follow up single, "Hot N Cold," managed to continue the momentum and became a second Top 5 single for Perry, as it has so far reaching number 3 on the Hot 100. Although a ballad, "Thinking Of You," will be released as the next single, Perry most likely will receive another high charting single towards her name.

Lady GaGa's route to fame didn't come so quick, but her debut single, "Just Dance" [featuring Colby O'Donis] which was officially released in April of 2008, amazingly has rebounded lately and became GaGa's first Top 5 single as well (in late 2008). "Just Dance," has reached number 2 on the Hot 100, as of January 2009 and is currently number 1 on iTunes Top Songs. Proving that it may be able to hit number 1 with sales and added radio airplay. While her second single "Poker Face," is reaping the success of "Just Dance" as well, reaching number 81 on the Hot 100 so far with help from radio airplay & increased downloads.

Both of these singer-songwriters have helped Pop music change during 2008, but the question I'm posing is who of the two do you think will have the best career in terms of longevity and musical prominence: Katy Perry or Lady GaGa?

So I was thinking after I saw Lupe Fiasco enjoying T.I. & Rihanna's performance of "Live Your Life," at the 2008 MTV VMAs that Lupe Fiasco and Rihanna could make a hot record together. I don't know it's just a thought but with both of their sounds, I think it could easily be done.

In other Rihanna news, it has been said [thatgrapejuice.net] that Rihanna plans on releasing Good Girl Gone Bad, as a remix album. That would technically be the 3rd version of the CD that initially came out in June of 2007. Way to milk it Rihanna or Rihanna's people (Label)! Though I think the better way would be to go by releasing a regular remix album, not just a GGGB remix album.

Seven Pounds -Another Good Movie for Smith

So I saw Will Smith's newest movie, Seven Pounds, and I must say it turned out to be a great movie. It was really nice to see Will Smith play a serious role in a movie like this, without it being Sci-Psy related [Men In Black, I-Robot, I Am Legend...the list goes on!]. I actually also liked this movie better than The Pursuit Of Happyness. And yes I do know that was based on a true story. That movie was just kind of what you'd expect to happen, did happen.

My advice for this movie, is to not judge the movie by it's title. And also not try guessing what it is for/about by it. You will find out by the end of the movie, well sort of what the title signifies. Well I actually had to Wikipedia it, after seeing it because I didn't fully understand why. But I suppose it does make sense.

In conclusion, I would recommend people to see this movie, but maybe not on Christmas day, because it does have some sad parts in it. But if you want to see a well performed movie with an interesting story line, Seven Pounds is a movie that can fulfil that need of yours.

[Side Note]

Oh, and as a side note, I saw a preview of the movie on TV where they played Ashanti's song, "Shine," near the end. Though it isn't in the movie, they really could have used it where they had the children singing in the choir (since in the album version of the song, there is a section of children singing).

4 Artists Amaze 2 songs in the Hot 100's Top 10

So this week something pretty amazing has happened in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. 4 artists each have two songs in the Top 10, and luckily none of the artist include T-Pain. Beyonce gains her number 1 spot back from T.I. with "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." And her second showing in the Top 10 is at number 9 with "If I Were A Boy," which has peaked at number 3 so far.

T.I. falls from the top spot to number 2 with "Live Your Life," featuring Rihanna. With the impressive feat, still managing two Top 5 singles at the same time with "Whatever You Like," currently at number 5; and became his first lead artist number 1.

Next up Britney Spears continues to ride off the success of her first Top 10 debut (number 3) with "Circus," remaining in the Top 5 this week at number 4. Her second number 1 Hot 100 single, "Womanizer," rises up the charts from last weeks number 10, to this weeks number 6; In it's 11th week of charting.

Last to conquer this collective feat is Kanye West whose "Heartless," sits at number 7 this week, and "Love Lockdown," at number 10. "Heartless," has peaked at number 4, while "Love Lockdown," has peaked at it's debut position number 3.

Filling in the voids, in this weeks ironic 2-showings per artist Top 10, is Lady GaGa's "Just Dance," [featuring Colby O'Donis] at number 3; And Katy Perry's second Top 5 single, "Hot N Cold" at number 8 this week. Rihanna and Colby O'Donis are the only features on tracks this week in the Top 10 of The Billboard Hot 100 as well.

The Winning 'Circus'

So as Britney Spears continues to gain back prominence, her 6th studio album, Circus, became her 5th album to debut at number 1 on the Billboard 200 by selling over 500,000 copies. Along with the albums success as a whole, the second single and title track “Circus,” became Spears first song to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at number 3. Since the song has just been released to radio (December 9th, 2008) and been the number 1 song on iTunes Top Songs, for over a week straight, it’s looking good for Spears receiving her 3rd number 1 Hot 100 single; and first pair from a single album (since “Womanizer” hit number 1 back in October 2008). Keep up the good work Ms. Spears!

Female Throwback Jam: “Bring It All To Me" 12.11.08

Back in the 90's a Destiny's Child wasn't the only girl group to be a part of the girl group era. This week’s Female Throwback Jam comes to us from Blaque. Blaque was essentially a younger version of TLC, as Left Eye of TLC formed the group and acted as their mentor. “Bring It All To Me,” became their best charting single in the U.S. to date (charting at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100). The album version of “Bring It All To Me,” featured JC Chasez of N*Sync, though the video version only featured the girls of Blaque. In the futuristic video, Shamari, Brandi, & Natina as hologram-like people who could teleport to various places talking to men. A great song, from a great group, who is currently said to be back together and releasing an album in 2009, currently entitled, Private Show.

Male Throwback Jam: “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” 12.11.08

This week our Male Throwback Jam of the week comes to us from NaS. "If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)," features guest vocals by 90's singer Laurny Hill as well. The song spoke out on many controversial issues and thoughts that Nas questions throughout the song. It was released in 1996 as the lead single of his number 1 Billboard 200 album It Was Written. The song help to start the ear of Hip Hop & R&B collaborations while reaching number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100. The video features Nas and Lauryn Hill various acted out scenes which help tell the songs story as well as the two driving around in New York City at night.

Welcoming All Fans of Music to Britney’s Circus | Britney Spears -Circus [Album Review]

After finally winning her first MTV VMA’s for Blackout’s second single “Piece Of Me,” in September, things were finally looking better for Ms. Britney Spears. Following her triumphant three time win, her lead single, “Womanizer,” from her sixth studio album Circus kept people wanting more.

“Womanizer” officially brought Spears back into superstardom becoming her second Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single since her debut single, “…Baby One More Time,” hit number 1 in 1999. While also making the largest jump to number 1 (96-1) on the charting week of October 25th.

The title track, “Circus,” was released as the second single along with the album on Spears’ 27th birthday, December 2nd. The songs catchy lyrics and intriguing beat will easily ensure another consecutive high charting single for Spears’ tally.

Listening close to the track, “If U Seek Amy,” will have listeners seriously debating if this song should have been renamed something a bit more explicit. Effortlessly making ‘…Amy,’ a must hear track off of Circus.

Spears’ camp had a smart idea by putting a standout track, “Radar,” from 2007’s Blackout, on Circus. The song was originally planned for a June 2008 fourth single release but eventually was scrapped, since a new album was being recorded. The computer enhanced vocals only add to the song’s ear candy appeal.

Straying away from Spears currently popular Electro Pop sound, songs like “Out From Under,” help to prove Spears can still deliver solid ballads like she has before. Such as 2004’s “Everytime,” which reached number 15 on the Hot 100. Both songs were produced by Guy Sigsworth.

Not only releasing a new album, this time around, Spears will also embark on a concert tour starting in March 2009. The tour will be billed as, The Circus Starring: Britney Spears, and even feature the Pussycat Dolls as opening act in the North American leg.

Gaining back the prominence she once held throughout her late teenage years, Spears definitely seems well on her way back to becoming the old Spears many loved to see put on outstanding dance numbers opposed to covering the gossip magazines week to week. With a new show for the world to see, Circus will surely show Britney fans & critics why her Circus is the place to be in 2009 and the years to come.

Ciara's Album Dilemma

“Go Girl,” from the start WAS expected to be the first single for Ciara’s Fantasy Ride, there’s no denying that. All artists’ singles which are made into videos were intended singles; whether they become hot or not. Otherwise record labels would just solicit them to radio, and not create an expensive music video for it. Just like how Keri Hilson’s people are trying to say that “Return The Favor,” [which I really like the demo version of…] wasn’t the album’s second single. Saying “Turnin’ Me On,” now is. Nope to me if the label goes as far as dropping tons of money for a video, especially as they did for “Go Girl,” it was intended as a single.

I am not looking toward Ciara’s album. I bought The Evolution: of Ciara and it wasn’t a bad CD at all, but she just doesn’t have the same buzz that she used to. I didn’t even like “High Price,” that opera style singing was trash, doesn’t have the voice to make something like that cool AT ALL! Maybe it’s the age that is turning me away from her music. Kinda like the Crunk style worked better when she was 19, rather than, what isn’t she 23 now. So the only way for Ciara to engage me again in her music is for her to release a bangin’ NEW (2nd) single from the album. And please don’t try to come with some “Promise,” wannabe type of single, highly doubt that will work again.

Sadly I still to this day have not seen the entire video of Ciara’s single, “Go Girl.” Probably since the fact of her and T-Pain on a song should have been a Crunk to the 10th level type of song, and it definitely is not, Disappointment! And the other sad thing about it was the other collaboration they did for T-Pain’s album Thr33 Ringz wasn’t a high energy track either. But I must admit, “Blowing Up,” was better!

Also, for Ciara to try to make up a alter ego named Super C [which did seem like a competition with Sasha Fierce] is extraordinarily lame, like c'mon there were better names than that. Somebody had said it sounded like a Gas Station, and they were right (LMAO!)

Female Throwback Jam: “Swing My Way" 12.4.08

Again for this week another 1997 Hip Hop & R&B song becomes our Female Throwback Jam of the week. "Swing My Way," was the only single released by the duo, K.P. & Envyi despite it becoming a popular single which reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. K.P. was the rapper of the two while Envyi soulfully sang in the song. Although the song was popular they duo would be known as a One Hit Wonder of the 90's since they didn't release any other popular singles. Which is a sad thing because on "Swing My Way," they complemented each others vocals well.

K.P. is the initials for member Khia, though she is not the same Khia who sang 2002's "My Neck My Back."

A Young Polow Da Don can be seen as the love interest in the video too.

Something For The People, featured two male and female vocalists and is most known for the 1997 hit single, "My Love Is The Shhh..." which reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Female Throwback Jam: “No, No, No” [Part II] 11.27.08

Again, it is a tad bit late but this weeks Female Throwback Jam comes to us from the then R&B quartet Destiny's Child. The members then consisted of Beyonce, Kelly, LeToya, & LaTavia. The remix to the groups debut song, "No, No, No," changed it from a a slow tempo ballad into a Wyclef produced club hit. The single jump started the incredible career of Destiny's Child and even their front woman, Beyonce's future solo career. Though their debut CD wasn't half as big as the likes of Survivor or The Writings On The Wall, "No, No, No" [Part II] will always be essential to the late 90's female group trends.

Yes it is a tad bit late but this weeks Male Throwback Jam comes to us from Usher. Though not his debut single ,"You Make Me Wanna..." was really what jump started Usher as the Entertainer. The video featured Usher dancing around a set with visual copies of himself which actually made him look like a group rather a solo artist. This almost seems the start of popular male singers utilizing dance skills to coincide with their music. The song will remain an R&B favorite of the 90's forever.

Competition: PussyCat Dolls vs Beyopnce | "Halo"

So ironically the PussyCat Dolls and Beyonce, they both have songs on their 2008 albums entitled “Halo.” While the PussyCat Dolls “Halo,” featured a mid tempo Timbaland produced beat, Beyonce’s version more of a ballad and was written by OneRepublic’s lead singer Ryan Tedder and was intended for Leona Lewis (who also wrote Leona Lewis’ number 1 single “Bleeding Love”).

I actually think this is one PussyCat Dolls song which really suits Nicole Scherzinger well. The way it’s sung, I don’t think would be as good if a different Doll shared lead vocals. That being said it would be nice to hear them take the lead on some songs released as singles. I think this song could actually be a hit for them, and should have been released over “Whatcha Think About That.” I think PCD really released that song in hopes of it doing better than Danity Kane’s “Bad Girl,” since they both featured Missy Elliott.

“Halo,” is scheduled to be one of Beyonce’s next singles off of her I Am… Sasha Fierce album. I expect the song to reach the tops of the charts especially since the Beyonce craze has started and the fact that Ryan Tedder had a number 1 single with Leona Lewis helps too.

I am enjoying both of the songs, and the question does not have to come down to Beyonce vs. Nicole Scherzinger at all. I am just curious to see what people think of the songs overall.

People who were into Hip Hop & R&B music of the 90’s will totally remember and love our Female Throwback Jam of the week. It comes from Lil’ Kim and features an ‘all star team’ of female rappers including, Angie Martinez, Left Eye of TLC, Da Brat and Missy Elliott. Along with the lyricists the video for "Not Tonite" [Remix] (often referred to as, 'Ladies Night') featured grand cast too, including cameos from Blaque, Queen Latifa, Mary J. Blige, SWV, Xscape, Total and many others. The video was an all out party where the women were catered to by men. The song was released as Lil’ Kim’s 3rd solo lead single and off of the Nothing To Lose soundtrack back in April of 1997. The song became a summer smash and peaked at number 6 on The Billboard Hot 100.

Male Throwback Jam: “Juicy” 11.20.08

So this week’s Male Throwback Jam comes from no one other than The Notorious B.I.G. His debut lead single, “Juicy,” features former Bad Boy female group Total singing the inspirational chorus, off of his ironically titled 1994 debut album Ready To Die. The song’s lyrics speak about growing up with almost nothing and turning your life around to make yourself successful and happy of your success. The song is said to be one of the greatest Hip Hop songs ever. The video features various acted out scenes of past life situations of Biggie as well as him celebrating and living the good life. Although Biggie was shot back on March 9th, 1997, at age 24, his legacy will forever live on through his cunning lyrics and memorable songs.

Alter Ego Takes Over | Beyonce -I Am...Sasha Fierce [Review]

Move over Beyonce Knowles, this time around another singer, Sasha Fierce clearly wants to introduce herself and set her name apart from Mrs. Knowles. Well not exactly, on Beyonce’s third solo album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyonce mixes two different musical sounds and genres onto separate discs to form one album.

Beyonce obviously learned her fans enjoy hearing different sides to her music, evident from her 2003 number 1 Billboard Hot 100 Hip Hop & R&B-Funk song, “Crazy In Love,” to her 2006 smooth mid tempo Soft Rock number 1, “Irreplaceable.” So Beyonce decided to release two A-side singles for her third solo album.

“If I Were A Boy,” is a mid tempo, vocal showcasing song which was geared toward Pop radio formats. The cinematic music video was made to show the scenario of how men would feel if women treated them as men sometimes do women. So far ‘Boy’ has reached number 3 on the Hot 100.

While “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” was geared for the clubs and rhythmic radio formats. Sounding much like a continuation of her previous single, “Get Me Bodied,” released from 2006’s B’Day. Though both of the videos were in black and white, ‘Single’ was a dance performance video; as ‘Boy’ was simply a mini movie.

The generalized sound of songs under the, I Am… title are slow ballads which aren’t to striking after a first listen and may come off as boring to Beyonce’s usual R&B fan base.

A few standouts were present as well. “Broken Hearted Girl,” and “Halo,” feature lyrics that seem touching and realistic. Production on these tracks was great as well. Speculated next single “Halo,” was written by lead singer of OneRepublic, Ryan Tedder, and actually intended for one of his past collaborators, Leona Lewis (who shared a number 1 collaboration with “Bleeding Love,”).

Beyonce previously told fans that Sasha was her on stage alter ego who she essentially becomes while on stage performing and takes her to a more energy driven exciting level. The intense vibe is definitely present on the Sasha Fierce portion of the album as well. Majority of the songs have an energy level which clearly is not present on the I Am... tracks.

On the Sasha Fierce side, you quickly indentify signature Beyonce catchiness; which is present on tracks like “Video Phone.” From its current-craze title, slick lyrics and its hard hitting beat, Beyonce scores a repeat track with this cut.

“Ego,” is another song where Beyonce clearly utilizes her versatility to create a unique retro, Pop-Funk, Soul jam. She states, “Some call it arrogant, I call it confident,” as she refers to her specific chosen guy.

Inspired by Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli,” Beyonce recorded a song called “Diva,” to a remarkably similar beat; both produced by Bangladesh. She raps and says why she is number 1 among fellow female artists.

Overall I Am…Sasha Fierce clearly directs Beyonce in a different diverse direction. She creates a way to dominate multiple music sounds and genres, all while bringing a unique conceptual idea to her album. Beyonce’s previous work has sold in outstanding amounts, and I Am…Sasha Fierce couldn’t have come at a better time. Though it may not be every Beyonce fans cup of tea, expect I Am...Sasha Fierce to become another big album for Mrs. Knowles-Carter.

Busta Rhymes scores this weeks Male Throwback Jam of the week. His 1997 single, "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See," will forever be remembered as a classic 90's Hip Hop song. From the songs intense bass and it's slick lyrics Busta Rhymes clearly delivered a track that could still have everybody get live at any given occasion. The song was released as the second single from his sophomore album, When Disaster Strikes. The video was based off of the movie Coming To America and featured Busta Rhymes dressed in various clothing and dancers during the chorus. Since then Busta Rhymes has released 5 albums and is currently working on his 8th album. He's also had 7 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles as well.

Missy Elliott debuted onto the music scene as a solo artist back in 1997 with her debut album, Supa Dupa Fly and released her debut single, "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" which became a popular song amongst Hip Hop fans. Missy came out with a new creative, unique music video for the single which featured odd things like her blown up in an suit which looked like black trash bags to her sitting on a fake hill wearing a long black wig. The classic video is only one reason why Missy fans still love her music and style to this day. Since 1997 Missy Elliott has released 5 other studio albums and is currently working on her 7th.

Hurry Up, Ashanti! New Single Necessary!

So I really think it’s about time that Ashanti release another single off of The Declaration soon. Since she didn’t try to revamp the airplay success of “Good Good,” with a remix, a third single is in order to keep people onto her current album. My personal favorite track from the album by far has got to be “In These Streets.” This could make a good single cause it is catchy mid-tempo song; not to fast or slow.

Though there has been rumors that the choice was once said to be the breakup ridden “So Over You.” And even more recently between “Struggle,” the we’re meant for each other-let’s work things out song and “You’re Gonna Miss,” a positive you’ll never find anyone better song.

While “Struggle,” has been a fan favorite since the albums release in June; the best option for Ashanti in my eyes, would be to release two singles. One aired to R&B radio formats and the other toward Pop formats. This would work out great if Ashanti is deciding between “Struggle,” & “You’re Gonna Miss,” since “Struggle,” would easily suit R&B formats well and “You’re Gonna Miss,” has a Pop vibe to it, perfect for Pop Stations. Not to mention a double video, “Struggle/You’re Gonna Miss” would be a good look for Ashanti as well, something new!

Whatever the single choice is, let’s hurry up and get a single out Ashanti, before people forget how great The Declaration, actually is.
